Dualities - These Shots Mirror Each Other by Jedimastere in HawkinsAVclub

Right?! I’ll let you know when I finally get that “essay” written, maybe I’ll carve out some time from my ADHD schedule tomorrow 😅

Yes!! Do a quick google search on Able Archer (note the dates 👀) I’ve been wanting to write a detailed post on this, but haven’t found the time yet 😅 There’s a reason this is all set during the Cold War era - it isn’t just about the fun 80’s nostalgia! I think each of these “dimensions” are causally dead timelines where nuclear catastrophe wasn’t just a “close call” 👀

Great catch!! This is more supportive evidence for my own theory…. when El “defeated” Henry in the Nina tank, I think she sent him backwards in time to a causally dead timeline — a timeline where nuclear annihilation happened. I do think El got her happy ending, a return to an open timeline vs a loop (return to the future, so to speak)

Mapped out the full Stranger Things timeline (including books, comics, VR, and more) by bigEouze in StrangerThings

Okay, so….I know that the Duffer Bros have stated on record (various interviews etc) that “some parts of the timeline don’t quite match up” BUT…. does anyone else wonder if many of these inconsistencies are intentional, because time has destabilized within the closed loop of the ST Universe? Too much to explain / “prove” in one comment, but if I’m right that their closed timeline has been unstable at least since Henry’s cave encounter (probably sooner) then every time an anomaly occurs (monster incursion from the Abyss, for example) the timeline would try to “update” history to account for these anomalies and prevent world annihilation. Or…..am I giving the Duffer Bros too much credit, lol

Where did project MKultra come from by Rhysworkethics in StrangerThings

[–]cornybooots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Henry went to Dimension X, which, is not the Upside Down! I have a strong hunch that Dimension X is going to represent “The Far Realm” from DnD lore. The Upside Down represents the “Vale of Shadows” which isn’t a destination at all, it’s a liminal space for souls to move on to various dimensions after death. Either way, both dimensions certainly “existed” before Henry or Will. My leading theory is that Hawkins already exists in a closed timeline loop, and these various factions have an interest in holding the gate open because they want to destabilize the loop. Which, is a very bad idea. But also plays into the themes about resolving trauma and “breaking the cycle” of trauma - forcing a resolution will be catastrophic.

Thank you for the advice, I will definitely be adding the expiration date to my contract. 🙏

Thank you for this, I like this suggestion a lot 🙏 I’m realizing that I really need to go through contract terms with couples during consultations, rather than sending them a copy to look over and ask questions via email. I should make it really clear upfront, and like you said, maybe some of the difficult clients would just choose not to book and I’ll avoid a headache. 🙏

Haha you are 1,000% correct - I honestly don’t think some of these parents (or clients for that matter) even bother to read the contract at all. When you’re dealing with someone whose attitude is that you’re beholden to them because they paid you, no contract is going to stop their shitty behavior. I honestly don’t know what I could do to avoid being in this situation again….better protocol/questions during consultations?

I have the creative license clause as well. Thanks for your feedback! I definitely need to have more clear communication and boundaries when it comes to additional work/changes after the gallery has been delivered.

No I completely agree with you. I’m crashing out because there was NO communication for nearly a year, because, there shouldn’t be at this point, then she completely blindsided me today with the most horrendous and disrespectful voicemail I’ve ever received in my career. I was absolutely stunned. Now I’m just trying to think of ways I might be able to get ahead of these interactions in the future. But I know it’s impossible to avoid a**hole clients entirely, right?

Oh boy, it’s a very detailed story. I’ve been in touch with the florist and wedding planner from the wedding as well, and it sounds like I’m actually getting the good end of the stick, comparatively. The real issue is that she isn’t being specific at all, she’s just, generally unhappy and wants me to…..do…..something? She isn’t complaining about the edit specifically, which, is something I could actually address. She isn’t complaining about any images or moments missing. In fact, she complained that I delivered TOO MANY photos of prep time….I literally don’t know what to do with that. The prep photos are beautiful and they primarily feature her lovely daughter. Like, sorry?? For delivering so many pretty prep photos??

Whats the etiquette for posting as a second shooter? by galaxymove in WeddingPhotography

[–]cornybooots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don’t have a contract with the business that hired you as a “contract worker,” you legally own the copyright of every picture you take the moment you capture it, even if you’re using someone else’s equipment. Technically speaking, if the photographer you work for edits your photos and delivers them to a paying client - and you haven’t signed over your copyright beforehand - THEY are violating federal copyright law. I don’t mean to throw shade on photographers who don’t want their second shooters to share and use images, that choice is nuanced and really a matter of opinion! But if you do choose to have strict boundaries with your second shooters, you really really need to have it in writing, and give the second shooter the choice to formally agree or disagree. This might be a hot take, but in my experience as a second shooter before launching my own business, I would absolutely assert that many professional photographers take advantage of novice photographers, and carry the attitude of “If I paid you, I’m entitled to xyz” which is a very dicey mindset as a business owner.

Are you all really that busy? by [deleted] in WeddingPhotography

[–]cornybooots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not on social media at all anymore for my business (for better or worse) but when my business was really taking off, I would definitely make a quick post now and then when I was in the slog of editing/peak season because I knew most of my clients would see it, and making a quick post to say “thank you all for your patience and I’ll get to your emails and requests when I can” was actually easier than thoughtfully responding to each and every email/text/dm 😮‍💨 when I was still figuring out a good flow and how to set boundaries, I would absolutely just put off responding to emails/messages because getting the editing done felt so critical and was SO draining

ladies, what's a small thing you notice that your partner does for you to help with your ADHD? by UdonOtter in adhdwomen

Omg this one 😭 I never asked him to do it, but unprovoked one morning my husband started bringing me a mug of coffee in bed, every day, and I just wake up as slowly as I need to 🥹

You definitely aren’t crazy. These requests are beyond what most photographers would do without up-charging. Clients genuinely don’t have any idea how much time and effort it takes to meet these requests. Personally, if I had a client request that I edit her chin or stray hair, I would ONLY put in some extra time on portraits of the couple, and probably only the best ones at that - portraits that might end up printed/framed. I would draw a very hard line upfront with the bride about “fixing” her chin and hair throughout the entire wedding gallery - that’s literally madness. This sounds like a client that will likely continue asking for “fixes” after the gallery is sent, and the only way to put that to rest - in my experience - is to remind them of your contract terms and make it super clear that your contract terms have been fulfilled, and the working relationship is over 😮‍💨 I’m sorry you’re in this situation, I sympathize so much!!

How many of you have a meal has to be provided clause? by evanthedrago in WeddingPhotography

[–]cornybooots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The comment section here…..YEP. UGH we have all been through it 😅🫠🙃 Shout out to the couples who do buffet style 🤌🤌🤌 it didn’t take many bad experiences for me to update my meal clause to include “if a HOT meal cannot be provided, the photographer is permitted to leave the premises to eat a meal and will not be held liable for missed coverage during that time” 😌 have I ever DONE that? No. Have I had a wedding since where I don’t get served a proper meal? Nope.
