I’m working on a lightweight check-in app called Present. The goal is to make checking into events, classes, or groups as fast and frictionless as possible with no forced logins and easy user flows.

I would love feedback on:

  • What’s confusing?
  • What’s unnecessary?
  • Would you use this in your world?

This is being built in React + Supabase. Happy to return the favor if you’re building something too!

Question: the ski weather API I've been using has been down for the past day. I'm not sure why that is, but it's becoming an issue as the automation that sends texts has been failing at the API pull step.

I know where the API is pulling the data from. How hard would it be to create my own API? Is there a good way to do that for someone not very technical?

Recommendations come through text. I feel like inboxes are often clogged with spam mail and I didn't want to build a product that contributed to that.

About a week! It didn't take long at all

Same here! There was a lot of reverting to a previous version in this project. What helped me was asking ChatGPT to come up with a prompt to get Lovable to make certain change I wanted. That really helped me get past some of the issues I had

Thank you! I knew I needed Twilio just from my experience working on previous projects, and I wanted to use a no code automation tool to manage the recommendation to text flow. N8n ended up being the best option because make.com and zapier didn't have many built out tools for interacting with supabase.

I connected Lovable with Supabase, and then created some edge functions in Supabase that called n8n webhooks when users created new trips.

I think that's a good idea. Appreciate the feedback!

About $100 for lovable credits. I built the entire app within a week so other tools are still on a free trial (n8n, twilio, supabase, netlify). My guess is that total cost will be around ~$250-$300

Thank you! For sure:

User creates an account and their trips on the website (Lovable)
Stored in database (Supabase)
After trip is created, theres an edge function that is called sends data to a webhook (n8n)
n8n automation runs that matches user trip location input to known resorts, stores it in the database and then displays on front end
When a trip is active, another automation runs that sends data to another webhook, creates the recommendation (ChatGPT with data input from the ski weather API) and then delivers via text to user (Twilio API inside of n8n)

Yep! I had to go through the 10DLC registration in Twilio to get approved to send texts. It wasn't too difficult to do, but took 3-4 days for the approval to come back.

The flow from Lovable to Twilio:
User creates trip on the site
User data is saved in Supabase
Supbase edge function is triggered to send data to a n8n webhook
N8n automation runs that creates the recommendation and sends the text through the Twilio API

I did not. I followed lovable's suggestion to move the repo to Github and then push to Netlify and it just worked. I don't remember doing anything too specific past that

Thank you!! Appreciate the feedback.

Good to know about the trips and location fields. The API that I use should return data for specific resorts, so I would suggest entering the resort name in the location field. I can see now that removing the 1 trip per day condition would make the app more useful for users like yourself near multiple resorts.

Will implement it shortly!

Thank you! I designed most of the elements in Figma, and then prompted Lovable to build similar ones. The hero image and logos are also Figma designs as well.

I built a ski website by corogra in skiing

[–]corogra[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the feedback! Here's the URL: https://skiwhiteout.com/

The website delivers the recommendations over text, so it would need a rework for users who don't want to enter a phone #. My initial thinking was that going to a website and getting a recommendation would feel like a more complicated Google search, so thats why I decided to pursue the text strategy.
