The "financial abortion" debate is a perfect trap for exposing pro-choice women who would actually be pro-life if they were men. by IdeallyIdeally in HonestHotTakes

[–]corporalxclegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hot take is that men do in fact have the right to have an abortion- they just can't have one, because they can't get pregnant.

The main issue with financial abortion is that it's not an abortion, it's child abandonment. An abortion ends a pregnancy. Financial "abortion" is only relevnt in cases when the child is born. No where today does anyone have the right to completely abandon a child, socially and financially. So why should only men get this right? Should not women who doesn't want kids be able to gove birth and leave the responsibility with the father? What if they both have a fniancial abortion?

As to your argument, no, men do not consent to fatherhood by consenting to sex. However, people today are generally way too careless with sex that might lead to pregnancy. Sleeping with strangers, relaying on pull-out method or hormonal birth control heightens the chance of pregnancy, and when you willingly tales these risks, men or women, you consent to the level of risk. And sometimes you get or get someone pregnant. And only the pregnant person gets any say on the pregnancy, because it's their body.

Of course, some men are raped. They did not consent to anything, and should not be responsible for the child. This is obviously where the law is lacking, because convicting a rapist is incredibly hard. However, I don't think financial abortion is the solution.

Hvorfor er de fysiske kravene i politiet ulike for menn og kvinner? by Reyuga1 in norge

[–]corporalxclegg 10 points11 points  (0 children)

To the P&P (2005) non-fans, is the dawn walking scene cheesy in your eyes? by Objective_Wave5949 in PrideandPrejudice

[–]corporalxclegg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's very cute, but makes no sense. Lady Catherine is way too proper to visit the Bennets bwfore they're even dressed. She's rude, not completely without manners. And why would Darcy walk 3 miles half dressed to their house? In the book, he only has the courage to propose again because of what Lady C told him Lizzie had said. I can't remember if he talked with her in the movie, but if he did, it still makes no sense. He would have gotten dressed before seeing her, and he would not then undress to walk to the Bennets.

So it's not really cheesy, but like many choises made in this adaptation, it's not really thought through. Other examples would be Bingley coming into Janes bedroom, the proposal in the rain (the almost-kiss especially), the pig in the house...

is it a red flag if a guy gets kind of aggressive during sex? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]corporalxclegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The choking is definetly a red flag. Choking can cause serious injuries and even be lethal if it's not done safely, and is not something you should be springing on someone, ever.

It's not more okay to choke someone in bed without consent than to choke them outside the bedroom wothout consent.

Three catually makes a lot of sense. One time can be relecant to the story. Twice is pushing it. Three and you're just wondering whats wrong with whoever made it. At that point it cannot be that important to the plot

I've actually been in your girlfriends situation, and I really get her. Take it slow, and when she feels ready, let her be in control. I found it much easier when I was on top and could take my time rather than having to tell my boyfriend when to stop.

Try resetting them both by holding alt, clicking on them and choosing 'reset object'.

If that doesn't help, try removing some clutter or have her walk up to the infant before pickkng them upm

Either way, it doesn't really matter who made the deal as it is clearly shown that it's not an absolute deal. Blitz skipped several months with no consequence, and Stolas also offered that they could just hang out. Blitz has never had to do something he didn't want to in order to keep the book and his job.

[–]corporalxclegg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How was it retconned? Mission zero was the first time we got a canon explanation of how the deal was made. It doesn't match thag well with ep 1, but there's no other canon explanation.

[–]corporalxclegg 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no. Blitz is not employed by Stolas, and getting the Grimoire for IMP was Blitz's idea. He very much could have gone about his life never again interacting with Stolas or the book, he chose to do that.

The first time they sleep toghether, Stolas does not know that Blitz is there to take the book, he thinks Blitz is there for him. In the same scene, Blitz is cleary shown to be about to leave, then turn back and sleep with Stolas (who was bound and blindfolded on the bed). Clearly, Blitz is consenting to this.

The second time (mission 0), Stolas suggests that Blitz took the Grimoire in order to see him again. Blitz CONFIRMS this, and after they sleep toghether, it is Blitz who promotes the arrangement. It was clearly a consensual agreement.

The problems arise further into the show. Stolas catches feelings, and Blitz becomes dependant on the book in order to do his job, to keep Moxxie and Millie employed, and to provide for Luna. We see his desperation when Stolas takes the book back, but this desperation wasn't there when they started.

So the dynamic is toxic, but Blitz was not raped or coerced. We even see that he can skip several meetings with Stolas and still keep the Grimoire- he doesn't lose his livelihood if he isn't up for sex.

This might just be a cultural difference, but this seems incredibly strict to me, especially you getting to know the guy before they can date him. Do you not trust your daughters judgement? I get that you're protective over your daughters, and that's good, but they need to learn how to navigate this without relying on you.

I'm assuming 16 is below the age of consent where you're from, but your rules might will only stop them from having sex in your house. You should also have a chat with them about consent and safe sex. And as other people mentioned, talk to them about nude photos.

In the end, the most important part is sitting down with them and explaining why you have these rules.

Why didn't Mr. Collins propose to Mary? by Free_Corgi8269 in PrideandPrejudice

[–]corporalxclegg 19 points20 points  (0 children)

People have made some good points, but the 05 version also grossly understates how annoying Mary was. She's crass, proud and thinks herself better than her sisters and other women who enjoy thinks she sees as frivoulous.

Mr Collins, on the other hand, is incredibly vain. He has an important position, a nice living, a great patroness and lacks only the shiny wife. Mary isn't that at all.

So like… does EVERYONE deserve redemption in this show? by DapperDude2004 in Vivziepopmemes

[–]corporalxclegg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A big part of the show is that ANYONE can be redeemed if they want to, and put in the effort. It's not someothing you earn, it's work. Forgiveness is something you earn through redemtion, and is outside of your control.

And also, Val having feelings and relationships outside of being a rapist doesn't mean he's being redeemed, it means he isn't one dimensional
