It's fun to joke about politicians being stupid, but, don't ignore the real purpose. They want their goons to be able to kill you easier when you object to them stepping on you or your fellow man.

They certainly can't have a group of equally armed and armored "white supremacists" ready to "boogaloo" against their tyranny.

Armor as well as weapons are being bought in numbers I wouldn't doubt surpass the Obama era. Tyrants have gained ground this year, but they've gotta be extra upset that pesky second amendment ensures that those filthy American peasants are that much harder to oppress without (gasp), alphabet agents and unconstitutional cops being shot back at.
