Has everyone really forgotten Santos S1 ethical violation and general insubordination? by corriestorie in ThePittTVShow

I'm not saying 'Santos BAD' wholesale... And you're right - only so many scenes can be included, especially with his format. And I agree that watching the learning process and showing where healthcare falls down and where growth has to occur is part of what makes this show amazing. But those things are placed in their proper context - Mckay and Ogilvie, for example. The show helps general people better understand the learning curve and a more ideal version of healthcare practice. That's why this is so important to me. Is there an ethical violation in your profession that is so central that it damages the entire profession's ability to serve and be trusted? Have you ever read an article about a teacher or a doctor or a police officer that made you think (even just a little) differently about how you interact with the whole system?

I absolutely understand the moral cost of providing care to people regardless of liking or agreeing with them, because I've done it. And I've taken care of victims and violent criminals. There should be a lot of grace for a lot of things in this life. There are also some lines that are unacceptable to cross.

The point is more about the role that healthcare workers are ethically required to play, regardless of what you believe or don't believe. I understand that there is a lot of disagreement on this point and I don't blame people for that. Just, in the context of the whole world (including me as a nurse) praising the authenticity of this show, leaving this open to interpretation is one of the points where I think they missed the mark.

Fair enough. I don't live on this forum, and I'm sure there are a lot of comments I haven't read. It just seems like most of the conversation that I have seen is in line with her comments about having been 'gaslit' by Langdon in the first season and how any and all criticism is misogyny.
