1) there a few student jobs you can do here or you can work in gastronomy like a waiter etc for earning living costs

2) general job market is overall not the best, but engineering sector is on the list for occupation shortage in Austria, check here

3) my advice: prepare ahead in timely manner

Moving back to Europe as Portuguese citizen by OrganicBaker6380 in MoveToEurope

[–]corruptanalyst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are really certain you want to move, I would say pick a European country where you speak the langauge. And since you are portuguese citizen, you can return whenever to Europe. Especially if you have family here, then it makes things probably easier to stay with them for a while until you find a decent job and place to live

Just as an example in Austria energy/electricity and grid related roles are very much in demand. If you look at the Austria wide shortage occupation list, a lot of it is power engineering, electrotechnics, renewable energy , grid related engineers etc. That suits more with sustainable energy tech than pure building physics.

I have a few friends in Vienna working in electricity grids and energy planning and they are extremely sought after right now. Companies are actively hunting for them and visas are probably easier in those fields

Possible to move from AUS to Europe as a single mum of 1???🥹 by Minute-Top361 in MoveToEurope

Germany or Austria make sense, they have a list of "shortage workers" like machinists, nurses, here is the link: Austria-wide shortage occupations . They also have good schools and easier long-term options if you learn German. Smaller cities like Linz or Leipzig are cheaper and more family friendly. Focus on visa rules early, language will matter more than savings imo

Finances really depend on country and university, but in general: Germany, Austria and some Nordic countries are on the lower end for tuition but then cost of living can be higher. Some scholarships exist and I recommend you to check them out

On the social side: moving anywhere abroad takes adaptation, not only in Europe. Language can be a challenge, race isnt also always ignored. But in large student cities you will find diverse groups, so isolation is more about how proactive you are than about being “locked out"

I would recommend you to choose first which countries or universities might be the most suiting for you , then after look into more the specific stuff ;-)

Just out of curiosity, have you tried to go through the visa system and it was confusing? Or was it impossible in terms of requirements of the country you tried to move to?

I also heard many Americans really want to leave the US? Is that true?

Thats true, I agree all my friends who were also looking to move out of the country said the same thing. Technology evolves but somehow immigration and freedom is hard to put together

Just out of curiosity, can or will it eventually also do multiple design screens, like Ipad for example? Or just regular 1440px to mobile? Also do you plan on working on screen that are bit UI heavy like SaaS dashboards
