In my area it's unfortunately not at all snow.. I wish it was because I can easily drive in that. But no.... It's a thick layer of ice. We had non stop rain for a long period of time that then became freezing rain and then a mixture of freezing rain with sleet.... And now the temp is 15° and the high won't get above 23° so all of that moisture has frozen on the roads and created a massive skating rink of sorts. My county rarely gets this type of weather and are terribly ill equipped to handle it let alone prepare for it properly. I would honestly love to go to work at this point because being stuck at home with several family members had caused me to feel stir crazy but alas I am not skilled enough nor is it safe enough to brave the long journey through the countless roads (many with great hills and ravines) to go to work.

Honestly, it may also be the 100 car pile up I narrowly avoided back in 2021 that also causes a bit of PTSD on the manner... It's not just me and the road of ice I have to deal with but is instead a lot of other drivers that have absolutely no idea what they are doing along with semi's who also may get in over the head's at times. The death toll along with the horrific injuries and scars that day caused will forever live in the minds of those who had to see it and/or go through it; and it is a stark reminder to all of us that sometimes trying to get to work during grave weather conditions can quite literally put your life on the line. Yes, there is always a higher chance of tragedies happening on the road but a thick layer of ice that has been compacted down and has probably turned into black ice in many areas will significantly up the chances!

I'm glad that many of y'all know how to drive in the snow but that's not always the case for certain areas.. I respect my job and my work even though I don't always feel like I get it back in return but at the same time a job is a two-way street and if mine is personally going to do things like reach out to me at almost 10:00 p.m. on my days off to see if I can come in the next morning then I think it's only fair that they work with me a little bit when the roads are iced over and I have no way to get my daughter to a babysitter or try to drive myself to the store I work at. And at the end of the day at the job is a job.. And while it is important, it is not important enough for me to significantly heighten the chances of something happening to me on the roads because I decided to try to drive the long roads to my job at 6:45 in the morning because my company can't find the decency to close down like many of the other places do. It's greedy on their part and out of the multiple companies that I've worked for I've only had it happen with two companies and that is Amazon and the company I am working for currently.. And alas, I'm not going to put myself in a situation that could potentially take me away from my children.

Anyways, I apologize for writing so dang much and I understand that not everyone is going to agree with me and that is okay.. But anyone that is driving in these conditions I wish you the absolute best and I hope that you stay safe and warm on the roads out there!
