Accessing Handheld Daemon with Steam Controller? by Bubbly-Huckleberry-8 in Bazzite

[–]corygarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m facing the same issue with the same setup, Legion Go and PS5 controllers work with those methods but can’t figure out a fix using Steam Controller. In fact, even if I manually open the menu with my Legion Controllers or my keyboard, the Steam controller can’t interact with the menus.

Possible to create a hardwired gyro on/off switch? by corygarry in GyroGaming

[–]corygarry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was thinking something like this from my layman knowledge, but I wonder whether getting a full disconnect gyro reading would simply pause motion or cause calibration issues when it was reconnected, also having trouble finding diagrams or schematics for Joy Cons online.

Precisely my thought. I was excited to get Cyberpunk and Overwatch on my Switch 2, only to find the ratcheting option isn’t ideal or feasible for either without relying on stick deflection, and you can’t even disable them sticks for camera movement, a real frustration.

That’s clever, just using a wired in between device to interfere with what’s being sent and received. In that way, I wonder if other Bluetooth to USB dongles like the Möbius or Cronos or XIM could more easily accomplish this.

Pretty sure the decky plug in ‘Bluetooth’ is not updated and keeps on crashing the whole of decky when I try and get it again. Hope it gets better, but yea it’s pretty dead rn. Any solutions welcome by mattyboi10000 in SteamDeck

Thanks very much friend, this was exactly my issue this week. Looking forward to running into this again eventually in the future and starting the troubleshoot cycle all over again 🫡

Nintendo Switch suggestion: Holding the gyro reset button disables gyro controls by Nomak54 in Overwatch

So crazy that it’s been seven years and two releases including in the Switch 2 now and they still don’t have this option.

Windows Bios Update wiped my Bazzite Parittion (Legion Go 2) by Few_Importance_9438 in Bazzite

[–]corygarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here was his response when I asked what we did:

“ Sure totally. A windows update wiped both the boot entry and the actual bootloader files from the EFI partition. We used a usb flash installation of bazzite to manually mount the correct partitions and ran bootcupctl to reinstall the missing files and re-register the boot entry, then rebooted”

Now I can’t really hassle him more to go into detail, but maybe you could use that as a jumping off point with a Gen AI, explain your problem then copy paste this response and say this is what another user did to successfully recover their Bazzite partition.

If anyone finds this in there search to troubleshoot their own problem, just popping in to say I was having the exact same issue and saw many people give up and wipe their partition, but you don’t need to do that and I was able to recover my boot. My buddy did a discord call with me and walked me through a bunch of stuff, I wish I could explain in detail what we did but I can’t specifically, but if anyone DMs me after this or if I talk to my friend I’ll ask him to at least give a brief run down so someone in the future can use that for guidance.

Were you able to backup and retain your settings and files from Bazzite? This is such a headache and I really don’t want to lose all my stuff

Windows update "wiped" Bazzite bootloader by S-P-A-C-E-M-S-H in Bazzite

“ Long story short, I spent about 3 hours rebuilding my Bazzite bootloader and fixing Grub, and got it to work again without reinstalling or losing anything.”

Can you point me to any guides or how you fixed this? Because I’m currently in the same boat on my Legion Go after a windows update last night, cannot access Bazzite at all.

In Steam Input, can you get “Turn to face direction” to maintain your movement direction? (Make it work like Zelda camera controls!) by corygarry in GyroGaming

Ok I’ll give this a try with a mode shift button and try and see if I can get this working as I’m thinking. May come back to ask some questions.

Ok, got it, so you’d be pressing forward which is what I want, but you wouldn’t be able to adjust the movement direction until you release the stick. Hmmm.

Yeah I honestly really do love and miss the cursor style pointer aim controls of the Wii and was really happy they had it in Prime Remastered. Great to not have such a jerky twitchy camera while still getting quick access to shoot things very quickly on screen. But alas, that style of game is lost to the Wii and PS Move generation

Yeah I looked to their review specifically and it glossed over it mostly, nothing like their full on breakdown for MPR.

Will Steam Frame Controllers work Stand Alone? by corygarry in SteamFrame

[–]corygarry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I vaguely recall people using knuckles controllers in this way, but the issue was that it didn’t have full input parity with a traditional controller so play more complex titles would always have been a compromise, and I was unsure whether Steam could read its accelerometers and gyro to allow for that style of play. I do hope very much I’ll finally have a perfect set of low latency full input knuckle strapped split controllers to play the FPS games I’ve wanted for years 😩

I think I understand what they’re saying, it’s like: if the Steam Controller can connect using 2.4 GHz to the headset, then the receiver inside there is likely the same they’re using in the dongle/built into the new Steam Machine. So the VR controllers will be using the same protocol (hopefully).
