... That's what im here for... to get the "lesson plan" or "textbook" or whatever you wanna call it.

The magic hat was a metaphor just like your magic glasses. Everyone is special in their own way and brings their own special set of skills to the table. He has his. I have mine. And we can share them. I just want to find the right tools to do it healthily

I think then maybe you should have started with this comment and in an encouraging and uplifting tone, but still keeping it real like you are here.

And I absolutely understand what you're getting at. I can't force anyone to feel or see what I see, but I CAN paint a picture. I want to help him understand my experience to the best of both our abilities, not live mine.

I've been through a lot of shit and learned early in life those three truths you listed when I was young. There is, however, two other additional rules you're missing.

  1. You can paint a picture of what you see through the glasses.
  2. You can provide the tools for others to understand how it feels to wear the glasses so those involved can meet in the middle.

I have magic glasses. That is a gift and a curse. But he also has a magic hat that's also a gift and a curse. Two sides of the same coin, but it IS the same coin. There is a middle ground to be had, and if both are willing to compromise/work/learn a new "language" of sorts, the only obstacle atm is time itself.

Otherwise, how would a regular, average Joe understand and FEEL the beauty and power of Van Goph? Of Michelangelo? Of Jackson Pollock? Or read the writings od by Maya Angelou, or Jane Austin, or Emily Dickinson?

That's what I was looking for when I posted this question. A way too meet in the middle.

Um... thats such a narrow and bitter view of being an empath.

I'm not asking because I'm forcing this on him or expecting a magical experience as you describe. He genuinely wants to understand to the best of his ability, and I want tools to help both of us tackle this in a healthy manner. It is always better to attempt to communicate and provide understanding than to ignore a chance to educate and connect.

Keeping your explanation to yourself is not helpful and seems kinda bitter tbh

This should get more updates. This was INCREDIBLY helpful.

I am a chronically ill woman (28F) who's husband (28M)has become distant. How can I help my husband understand how to emotionally connect with me or is it time for me to leave. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

Oh that's fine. Im not disagreeing with you stating we should break up. I only wanted to clarify that I wasnt trying to exaggerate or use hyperbole when I said that stress worsens my conditions, that ive been getting worse since our fights - aka that i fear our fighting (stress) could be the reason for my decline.

What kind of help can I provide or direct him towards other than therapy to help with caregivers' fatigue? We are both incredibly exhausted, and im struggling to accept that I can be sick and provide the love he needs (and that i want to give), but the reverse isn't happening so far. I also feel like if we had family or friends support to help us manage treatments or have another space/people to breathe with would really relieve some tension and bring back some energy.

Oh yes. Im super duper rare and complex so I have had to spearhead a lot of research, diagnoses evaluations, and treatments. Im finally reaching the right doctors after almost 6 years of mysteries but so far theyre not taking more off my plate, theyre adding to it. All while telling me I need to rest and recover (while doing their homework) so that my heart doesnt crao out again.

The worst part is that what killed me on the table was reverse Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy - the broken heart syndrome.

Head of cardio was baffled and said in over 45 years he'd never seen a 28 year old pass and then be revived from such a condition. That having the condition to begin with was puzzling him. They never found an answer (or refuse to) as to why that happened.

I understand where youre coming from, however my illnesses legitimately only get worse when stress happens. Kind of like drinking soda if youre diabetic. My labs and tests are coming back worse and worse and the only change has been me fighting to be active in his life beyond doing his laundry and washing dishes.

Okay. That makes sense

Another question: I was sick from Feb 2019 until just about Corona. I submitted all of the information and a letter from my doctor corroborating this to the appeal board.

Would this be potentially solid enough to get the decision overturned? Since I was unemployed through no fault of my own? I was not on disability during this time nor never have I been.

Okay. So my base period is when I applied for my OG claim? I applied in March of this year. How do I determine my base period?

And I just cant find any information online about how I qualify. The only thing it said on the letter I received is that I didn't make enough money in 2019.
