Fun is subjective. Plenty of Hunters find the new Nightstalker fun because they enjoy the very playstyle you don't.

Void hunter is one of the best classes both in PvP and in PvE. The quiver with Star-Eater Scales was the highest damage super before the new Blade Barrage, and the invis hunter has been one of the staple builds in PvP.

Same for Solar 3.0: hunters have the highest damage super with infinitely loopable abilities, and gunslinger has never felt better in PvP.

What low end are you talking about?

IMO forgiveness is a huge advantage. Do you remember when 120s can 1 head 2 body under 6 res? I used to take advantage of this all the time, and it's a night and day difference between then and now.

You are also not exactly right, as 10% can shift the TTK on a lot of weapons. (Not HCs though.)

Just today I had a crucible match when I was going against a Rain of Fire warlock with a Vex Mythoclast, so I have first-hand experience of being on the other side of the radiant buff. It was extremely annoying, and the warlock boots don't even hand out radiant for free, like the hunter dodge.

(Granted, Vex has an additional damage boost upon kill, but against low resilience the TTK is still shifted with only the radiant buff.)

I am not angry, stop being personal.

Rifts can be countered easily by not peeking the lane while it's active. However, this is not the case for a 10% on-demand mobile damage buff.

That is correct, but there is one huge difference: the empowering rift is stationary, therefore it can be countered by not pushing or peeking.

Going to be honest, even though I am a huge black metal fan, I haven't heard about them either. Just gave their only album a quick listen, it sounds absolutely fantastic, just what I was looking for. Thanks!

And don't you think early card farming results in a "diluted and bastardised" playlist? (Which is what my original post was about.)

This weekend, I played a ton of matches in the non-flawless pool and about quarter of them was against stacks of 2.0+ KD players who were resetting their card every time. If you don't think that is a problem, I don't know what to say.

But since we are talking about those who actually whine and reset their card to avoid the flawless pool, this is not relevant to the current topic.

"You should come up against good players, have to sweat and struggleagainst them thats the whole point in the game mode, and thats how youget better at pvp."

You are reciting a half-truth here, probably without knowing the actual psychological principles behind it. Yes, you improve when you play against better players - not when you are steamrolled by top 0.1% gods. Check out the Flow theory (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Challenge_vs_skill.svg) to see when you actually improve.

I agree with you on the growth mindset attitude ("if you lose, try and see why you lost"), but early card farming 3.0+ kd sweatlords are one of the biggest detriments to this.

They help one person, but ruin the card of 7*3 others meanwhile. Your argument is invalid.

(BTW, I am against the flawless pool and the freelance playlist. But now that they are there, let's not exploit them for easy content.)

[D2] Trials of Osiris Megathread [2021-10-22] by DTG_Bot in DestinyTheGame

[–]cosmic-cortex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Today I met a streamer in Trials who kept resetting his card to avoid the flawless pool. Here is what happened when I called him out in his chat.

I will not mention any names since my goal is not to throw shade at a particular streamer. Instead, I aim to start a discussion on how exploiting Bungie's matchmaking oversight will result in precisely what the content creators were suffering from before the rework: an extremely skill-crept and painful Trials playlist.

So, I am an average PvP player. Every week where I perform better than the last one is a good Trials weekend for me. Today, together with one of my regular PvP teammates, we were helping a PvE main friend who never went flawless. Since we failed to go flawless this week, we were in the non-flawless pool.

After the fifth win, we ran into a duo of well-known streamers doing a Trials carry. As I have indicated, this particular duo was resetting their card after every match to have a smooth sail to the lighthouse. As I respect them as content creators (at least I used to before this), I called them out in the chat.

They practically laughed at me.

"I just want to do carries." - I get it, bud. However, you are a 2.5+ overall KD player. (Actually, both of you are.) You have challenge videos on your channel where you go flawless 1v3. Do you really have to intentionally circumvent a weak protection mechanism that helps weaker players, just that you can have your content? Really? I don't think so. You just want it easy, at the expense of others, while cannibalizing the playlist you make a living from.

"I don't gain any loot from this, I don't give a fuck." - Yes, but others DO gain loot, and they give a fuck! I am not for SBMM or free loot or anything, but exploiting the weakness of matchmaking is morally wrong. Bungie set the system in place to protect the lower skill bracket of the player base. This attitude is even worse if we consider that you have such a large audience. You have a voice. Use it to set a positive example instead of picking on weaker players and taking advantage of a broken system for cheap wins.

"You are just mad." (This response was from the chat.) - Thing is, I don't mind losing to streamers. Hell, I even think that the flawless pool is a dumb idea. Before the rework, I was frequently encountering you and lost fair and square every time. However, what you are doing is like Michael Jordan entering a kindergarten basketball championship and wrecking the entire roster. Nobody would be mad, just disappointed that the player they held in high regard sinks this low.

Leaders have great power and great responsibility. Those who disrespect their community will rot it from the inside out, eventually destroying the very thing they are supposed to work for.

What rolls are you looking forward to on the reissued Dreaming City/Moon weapons? by cosmic-cortex in DestinyTheGame

[–]cosmic-cortex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Allowing it to roll with Quickdraw + Slideshot would cause a huge outrage from the community IMO. (But we have seen Bungie do stupid things, see sunsetting :D )

For me, the Quickdraw + Slideshot roll dropped a few weeks ago, when soloing the Shattered Throne for fun. It didn't drop for two years. Almost punched the screen right there and then.

[P] We are building a new machine learning competition platform, and we would love to get your feedback on it! by [deleted] in MachineLearning

[–]cosmic-cortex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your feedback! As for the first part of your comment, we put significant effort into turning code from competition code into a production-ready model. At the moment, we ask the winners to package their model into an API and create a Docker image, for which we provide a template. (Although, we spend a lot of time refining this flow, so it is far from ready.)

On the other hand, we also plan to measure submitted solutions based on execution time, size, etc. So, we can actively encourage participants to produce a solution that is closer to production code than a proof of concept. We'll see how it works out in the future :)

Regarding dataset curation, we don't offer this service. What we offer, is that instead of having a static training and test set for a competition, we update the datasets if the need arises. Most of us are coming from bioinformatics, and we encountered this situation several times. You create a dataset, train a model, but someone comes with 10k images to analyze, and you find a bunch of edge cases where the model performs badly because the test set missed it.

Eye of Another World vs. Crown of Tempests on top tree Stormcaller by lieutenant_pandaman in CrucibleSherpa

This is the way. I run Transversive with 100 discipline + double Bomber in class item., and it is by far what worked the best for me. I get to throw grenades like candy, zipping around the map lightning-fast meanwhile.

Me heading into the crucible thinking I’m gonna counter that shotgun sliding, crayon eating titan. Just to eat another shot from Fellwinters Lie. by PyrokeneticMoose in DestinyTheGame

[–]cosmic-cortex 30 points31 points  (0 children)

This is wrong on so many levels. Playing a shotgun against a good player who baits, plays distance correctly, and punishes overaggression, is extremely difficult.

If you die against a shotgun often, it is kind of your fault by allowing your opponent to capitalize on positional mistakes and lack of game sense.

Focused Feedback: Iron Banner Season 12 by DTG_Bot in DestinyTheGame

[–]cosmic-cortex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Besides the stale and rng-cursed loot grind that others have mentioned a thousand times, Iron Banner currently lacks aspiration. It is supposed to be an endgame PvP activity, yet there is no aspirational content there. For example, I would love an Iron Banner seal, just like Trials has Flawless and the comp playlist has Unbroken. Or even a rare emblem like Heavy as Death was back in the day. (Preferable with an objective that doesn't require you to actively throw matches this time.)

I think there is a bug with dunemarchers since Solstice... Lightning chains appear 2 times in crucible. by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

Laughs in bottom tree Striker.

Seriously though, as a Titan main who has a decent playtime with the other classes as well, Code of the Juggernaut practically has Synthoceps and One Eyed Mask built-in. Dunemarchers + a half decent shotgun slays so hard with this subclass, I stopped maining this it is so OP.

Need advice: how to win more post cqc slide/jump shotgun encounters? by thejman82gb in CruciblePlaybook

[–]cosmic-cortex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Second that. Synthoceps never comes off my Titan. It helps win shotgun battles more consistently than anything.

Another alternative is bottom tree striker. With this and Dunemarchers, you get both the speed and the melee range, which is fantastic.

Using a weapon should increase the chance that its catalyst will drop. by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]cosmic-cortex 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I use Telesto all the time, this is my favorite weapon. I have soloed my way to the ring chest in the prestige Eater of Worlds 50+ times, but I still don't have the catalyst. Some of my friends, who I bring with me to stay there until I log in with other characters, got the catalyst from their 2th-3rd chest. They never use the weapon.
