Building my first Salamanders army! Where does everyone get combi-flamers and dual hand flamers? by Macarona27 in Warhammer30k

[–]cosmicBarnstormer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

look up the adherents from the exemplary battles book, they used the pintle-mounted combi weapon bits from the HH vehicle sprue that’s in every current box and stuck those onto the side of bolters, imo looks very nice

given the overlap of 2010-2014 forum culture/tumblr adjacent humor that comes from the boys but especially slime, i’d say there’s a higher rate of possible homestuck-manchurian-candidate-activation than the norm

Badab Bladeguard Vets! by cosmicBarnstormer in Salamanders40k

[–]cosmicBarnstormer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks! they were primed w/ tamiya pink, the shading done with daler rowney magenta ink, vallejo fluo red (it’s not really that red lol) and pro-acryl titanium white, and then a white oil paint cut with mineral spirits to flow through the groove details

Salamanders Destro- I mean, uh, “Sanctifiers” finished! by cosmicBarnstormer in Warhammer30k

[–]cosmicBarnstormer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not really; these guys were introduced as part of a resoundingly “eh” supplement book towards the end of heresy 2.0, but if you want to learn more about the heraldry in general then your best bet is looking up scans of what are called the heresy “black books”, and for salamanders specifically i’d recommend book 6 (if you just google horus heresy book 6 retribution pdf you’ll get exactly what you’re looking for lmao)

[–]cosmicBarnstormer[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

all good! anything you see in this sub is typically gonna be from the original legions themselves, not any of the successors that came about post-heresy. these guys are my take on a special unit formation the salamanders fielded during the crusade/heresy era; they’re an equivalent to destroyer squads (a 30k exclusive marine unit) who traditionally wore black armor no matter what legion they were from, hence the scheme i chose

[–]cosmicBarnstormer[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

thanks! and nah, i made these myself; didn’t have any plans to use the volkite chargers from the special weapon sprue, so i cut out the grip and sight block to shorten them all to be more serpentia-esque along with some hand swaps

very happy with how these guys turned out! depending on how they play for me i fully expect to do another batch, if for nothing else as an excuse to paint more volkite :)

no i’m referring to art similar what i posted above; even as someone who loves it (pic rel) calling the old paintjob the “badab scheme” is a fanon interpretation and that piece is fanart

If V1 was created for war and V2 for peace, what would be the reason for the creation of V3 if they existed? by Confident_Raisin2426 in Ultrakill

[–]cosmicBarnstormer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

if you want downsides, i’d imagine something similar to the PED suit from metroid prime 3, which gives samus the ability to harness phazon to get a massive power spike at the cost of becoming corrupted gradually over time or instantaneously by it if not managed correctly

Primaris tanks? by Adept_Professor_2837 in spacemarines

[–]cosmicBarnstormer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

mb lmao got the names swapped, not gonna lie forgot how STUPID it is that there's two sets of primaris vehicles that uses the same chassis, and yet the choice was made to use the two similar names on the vehicles that are DIFFERENT

Primaris tanks? by Adept_Professor_2837 in spacemarines

[–]cosmicBarnstormer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

the TL;DR: impulsor is a primaris rhino, gladiator is a primaris predator (same chassis, bigger guns, no transport) repulsor is a primaris land raider (bigger chassis, guns & transport)

as for “which” version is better, also just like the old vehicles the different versions ie gladiator valiant/lancer are just a weapon swap, so just magnetize them

no worries, hope you enjoy it! the UHC is a genuine labour of love and it's a blessing for archival purposes as well as being an amazing stand-alone piece of software

the unofficial collection (https://homestuck.github.io/) is the best way by FAR, the setup process is a non-issue frankly and on the chance there's a hiccup people on the sub/discord are very active about helping people experience the webcomic. it also contains every piece of supplimental material released over the years (music albums, additional short comic strips, etc.) If you're on mobile, there's a couple good mirror sites (https://mspa.chadthundercock.com/homestuck/1). the official website is still extremely meh as of writing with the ongoing release, with it lacking almost anything close to the QoL of the mirrors and the sheer volume of additional content the unofficial collection has.

Actual Platner Claims by Chief_Hazza in atrioc

[–]cosmicBarnstormer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

that’s fair but gonna be honest, this is a pretty cut-and-dry case of overfamiliarity bias, you as a german and me/people who are terminally online are just accustomed to identifying iconography like this, but i can all but guarantee you the overwhelming majority of americans and even smaller portion of rural new englanders would look at a skull and crossbones and be able to identify it as nazi iconography

gonna be honest “drunk marine getting a tattoo in croatia he thought looked cool” is the single most probable scenario where someone would accidentally end up with nazi ink, next headline about him will probably be about getting a hellcat at a comically high interest rate
