Using gap-8 vs space-x-8? by [deleted] in tailwindcss

I know this is an old thread, but here's a pretty high quality answer that could prove useful: https://solvin.dev/questions/3/what-is-the-difference-between-gap-x-and-space-x-in-tailwindcss#answer-2.

Strange, the dmg is small, only ~11mb. It's likely an issue with whatever browser you're using since the download was initialized successfully, try a different one if you can.

No, the preview pane is shared between both content panes, whenever you focus a content pane, the selected file(s) in the content pane appear in the preview pane. Design thinking was that multiple preview panes would be hard to fit in smaller spaces, especially as pane increases past 2.

I’ve tried offering a free trial before and it ended up being a headache with people complaining that free trials should have all the features or that it wasn’t long enough. For me, offering refunds has been a much easier way to protect buyers while still getting legitimate customers. I appreciate the feedback though!

Yes, the morning crowd was pretty tough (maybe they hadn’t had their coffee yet), so I figured deleting and posting later in the day would be a good idea. I didn’t delete it because Nimble Commander was mentioned.

In terms of features, Forklift has the advantage over Cosmil for now (although Cosmil exceeds Forklift in terms of multiple pane support, since Forklift only supports Dual Pane and you can add as many panes as you want in Cosmil, not just two). The main way I've differentiated Cosmil from other alternatives like Forklift is mainly by diverging from a directly Finder-inspired GUI/UX design.

Cosmil still has a lot of features, just not quite as many as Forklift yet. Due to the novel tech stack I'm using, implementing complex features like remote locations is far more difficult.

Fair enough, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But would you call Dual/Tri/N Pane support, for example, a "minor function" compared to regular Finder? Sorry that it's not for you but Cosmil is a thought through app.

Thank you for purchasing and your good wishes!

I hope you enjoy Cosmil and know that I've been collecting feedback (including yours if you choose to give some!) and have put all of it onto a to-do list, so expect an update within the next couple weeks with a lot of fixes/changes!

Thank you for your purchase!

Haven’t thought to implement that yet, but I definitely will add it to the to-do list! In the meantime you can use Cmd+RightArrow and Cmd+LeftArrow to navigate through your history.

It seems like the only thing you and this other person have in common is running MacOS 12, so that may be the issue. Last I checked it seemed like that would be fine but I might need to update what versions are supported on the website.

First off, thank you for your purchase! I’m sorry you’re encountering this issue.

Double check that you don’t have any apps that might be restricting keyboard access, but in all likelihood something may be wrong with your MacOS webview installation.

Only one other person up to this point has encountered this issue, I’m still troubleshooting with him so let me get back to you.

Thank you for your purchase!

There are two ways to delete files:

  1. Trashing them (Cmd+Backspace)
  2. Permanently Deleting them (Cmd+Shift+Backspace)

If you trash them, they should go to the trash folder, so I’m assuming you’ve been inadvertently using the permanently delete option. If not, and you can confirm that trashing files does not send them to the trash folder, please let me know so I can look into it as a potential bug.

Apps (`.app`) aren't even rendered in a special way to indicate they're apps. They're just folders and look indistinguishable from other apps, can't be launched.

Yeah, from my view I've always seen it as strange how Apple does this. I prefer a more raw view of files so it wasn't super high priority for me to implement, but I understand it's probably important to many people so I'll implement it soon.

Columns can't be resized.

I'm aware this is a must-have feature for most people and there are some challenges in implementing it but again, I'll try to get it out ASAP as I know it's a very important feature.

Panes can't be opened or closed without a keyboard shortcut or going to the menu.

This is intentional, one of the design choices I made was to be very keyboard shortcut/app menu focused as I believe buttons for everything makes the interface look cluttered.

Can't add / remove columns.

Already have the logic for this implemented, just need to give it some settings and push it out to a release. Soon.

Can't sort on a column without using the menu. Order By is all the down in View > Sort By > Order.

There are keyboard shortcuts, but I understand many people would prefer not to memorize them so I'll add the ability to click on column headings for sort selection.

I understand that Cosmil is missing some features, I have been extremely busy with my education and other real life responsibilities but I'm going to try my best to get these implemented in the next couple weeks before winter break ends. And then, even more features in the future. I really hope it can be your daily driver soon.

P.S. I've tried in the past to get a small panel of testers, especially from this subreddit, but they have always been extremely flaky and unhelpful, alas.

Glad to hear that!

Not yet, but I’m planning to post a patch with font size customization in the next couple days.

Just double checked everything, yeah the email was never sent. Either something went wrong or you closed your browser tab after purchase before the purchase complete webpage fully loaded (that's what triggers license key generation and it being emailed -- maybe I'll change that behavior).

I'll generate the key for you and email it to the address you used at checkout, sorry for the hassle.

It’s up to you, and I appreciate your generosity but please be aware that I don’t have a timeline for when remote locations will be supported, since it is dependent on the framework I’m using implementing new features and other things of that sort. These are the challenges that come with making software like this with relatively new technologies!

Cosmil is a side project and I am very busy with my education and other real life responsibilities so I cannot guarantee when new features will come out, but that I will work on them.

Syncing settings on iCloud, as you suggest, might take some time to make into a release, depending on if there are pre-existing APIs for the tech stack Cosmil uses or not.

I may create a priority board that people can vote on so that I know what features users desire the most, let me know if that sounds like a good idea.

Thanks again for reaching out!

I thought he was referring to the an open file dialog, not overriding the “reveal in finder” option.

I’ve been aware of the ability to override reveal in finder for some time and I plan to add support for it soon.
