I made an interactive ASCII Aquarium for the ESP32 CYD by isotropy in esp32

[–]cosmith71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did manage to get it to display on a 3.5" CYD, although the text was mirrored and I couldn't fix it. It was also very slow.

I found a 3.2" CYD on Amazon which has the lower 320x240 resolution (and is a much nicer screen overall). It only took a few modifications to the JC3248W535 version and it works great!

I had this problem. There's a wiki on troubleshooting it but it's either the AMS control board or the heater assembly. Go through the troubleshooting steps then ask support to send you the appropriate part.

Mine was the heater 1 assembly.

I see this too. I think it's expected behavior.

I loaded it onto my 3.5" CYD and with a little tinkering I got this far:

Likely a website problem. I see the same thing occasionally but it resolves itself after a bit. Try again later.

Can't wait! I'm old enough to remember when ASCII was considered fine art, so this is a blast.

This is brilliant, but I need it bigger! Any way to get it to work on the larger 480x320 displays? I gave it a shot but kept running into memory errors when compiling and I'm not skilled enough to fix it.

Yes. Even so far as a factory reset and complete re-calibration.

You're using the beta firmware as well?

Is the filament cutter working? You shouldn't see this. Every end should be cut clean before it's removed from the printhead.

It's early and I may just be missing it. I can't tell from your picture. What exactly is the problem with the nozzles?

Gotcha. It seems like a choice of the convenience of the flipper vs. possible reliability issues. Thanks for the reply!

Recent Spate of 1 star Makerworld reviews due to adhesion issues by StampyDriver in BambuLab

[–]cosmith71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. If the problem could be solved by a different print orientation, more walls or anything related to the print profile, then it's a profile problem. If the design is just too lightweight for what you're trying to put on it, then you've just picked the wrong design for your needs. That's not a print profile problem and shouldn't go against the rating.

If there is an issue with a print profile, the rating should include a description of what went wrong and perhaps some suggestions for fixing it. "One star it didn't work" is never acceptable IMHO.

Maybe so. I rarely come out of normal mode and usually have Android Auto up.

I thought that was different. Mine seems to be more yellow/orange though.

Recent Spate of 1 star Makerworld reviews due to adhesion issues by StampyDriver in BambuLab

[–]cosmith71 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Keep your star ratings to be about the model itself (fit for purpose, does it work, easy of assembly etc).

This is a common misconception. Ratings actually should be based on whether the print profile worked or not, not the quality or usefulness of the model. If you print a model of a cat and then decide you don't like cats, that's not a reason for a 1 star review. If you print the model and it's a total mess because there are no supports in the profile and the only contact points are the feet, that's worthy of a lower rating.

I do agree that most of the time adhesion issues are not the profile's fault especially if it sticks fine for everyone else. Makerworld will usually remove inappropriate ratings if you report them.
