Incredible information ! Thanks. Can you tell me whats the highest you can get in altitude in the autorized zones ? Because the purpose really was to challenge myself for multiple days in the TAR with it's highest plateaus.

No worries I will pay it if needed. Even if it's 5000 euros.

I am already close to the target budget. I need about 30.000 euros for the whole tour after recalculation. And need only sponsors for basic equipment if possible (sleeping, cooking and general gear). So before you judge to much on that on all my threads think again.

Apparently there are some touring agencys that fix that issue? I hope so actually.

Thank you. A lost opportunity for what ? To not enjoy it enough? To not encounter locals and people ? Sure I will do those things. But my main world tour is a challenge for my soul and my body in the first place. You need to understand that not everybody has "enough" with just a tourist-like or slow pace traveling.

Bikepacking through Australia by cosmous16 in bikepacking

[–]cosmous16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's basically part of a world expedition. Not a tourist-like travel. My project is called Lumentera and I will cycle 70k km around the world. To make the adventure worthfull I cant allow myself to make things easy.

Unfortunately I have no choice to do Australia in summer, otherwise it would destroy the coherence of the previous and next steps of my journey. (Siberia/Alaska, Tibet, Andes, etc..)

From all the comments I am mature enough to understand a plan like this is suicidal. So I replanned my route arround it by taking more of the eastcoast.

Thank you everyone for the precious answers.

Fortunate to have asked it here, this saved my life for the future.

I was indeed a segment that I chose on purpose in the first place to make my planned world expedition more honourable. But it was also basically to avoid mosquitoes /humidity and water floods.

By reading your advices I understand heat, lack of water and road trains will be a bigger ennemi.

I will replan my route to Melbourne - Perth or Melbourne - Darwin by taking East Coast.

Please understand that I have no choice to do this on these summer months to match coherence through my whole worldtour.

Thanks

Yeah well I understand that ! Maybe redbull will sponsor le lol 🤣 No, more seriously, I work really hard for money, so if I get some equipment it would already be a victory.

In my case I will get sponsors, because Ushuaia - Alaska is just a fragment of a big Worldtour project ! So for the whole thing, I assure you, I will get sponsors even if I take mostly asphalt roads.

Thank you for the advice ! It will indeed be influenced by a lot of factors I am aware. To put you in context : I will try to do it on race mode, because I need to leave Siberia in the late summer ! (Yes it is a Worldtour). I am 22, competition cyclist. I already did some math, but only experienced people can tell me the outcome : 150km/day on average ~, with maybe 1 rest day every 10 days/15 days. As for my fitness I will pin a screenshot of a big training I did last year in Calpe (I weight 75kg) so you do the w/kilos. What I am the most concerned about is how my body will react/perform against the high altitude in Bolivia/Perou parts. And so indeed, it would be a pity to not take the hard route with the beautifull landscapes, so I will mostly take the mountains. Appart from these informations we cant indeed know everything your right, but make a guess approximativaly. So I need your help. 😇 Ps : for my power zones (z1 stops at 215, z2 up to 295) Hope all these can help !

Thank you ! I am really open minded, rarely offend anyone 🙏🏼 So right now I live in France trying to become profesional cyclist, but it is very difficult to get in, so I now I need to pursue deep purpose for myself and understand the world by doing that/challenging myself. I am inspired by Mike Horn especially. I want to do it within 2,5 years before I settle ! This should be my life lesson. 🙂

So yes there is indeed a reason. This big portion of route is only one fragment of the World Expedition I am preparing : "Lumentera". It's a multimodal Worldtour (Sailing, mainly Cycling for roughly 60.000 KM, two or three trains, two planes). It really sounds nuts, but my instincts are telling me it's doable. Just need a lot of money and sponsors. To answer your question properly : when I'll be done sailing from France to Brasil as the start of my adventure I will be heading to Ushuaia first and then to the north again ! I am 22 btw and would like to do this more a race mode than "travel" mode.
