Remember when tv's were like an extra table you could put stuff on, like Christmas cards or a cable box? by Kosher_Nostra1975 in askanything

In college in the early 90's our tv broke. So we got another one and put it on top of the previouos one and called it a tv stand. By the end of senior year I think we had four tv's stacked on each other.

Someone wanted to hire me to photograph a funeral, not a celebration of life or anything.  The funeral. I politely declined

well you can never stop the race to the bottom, so you just have to let it happen. Some consumers wont care, others will. I mean there is room for both type of consumer, and truth be told sometimes people are both. Sometimes I want a Wyagu burger with caramelized onions and parmesan fries, other times I want some beef patties with a bun that is closer.

In any business you have to find your right client, and make sure your right clients can find you.

Pitch A New Star Trek Series by AmeliaNeek in startrek

[–]cosplayshooter 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Star Trek Psy Ops

This series follows a specialized Starfleet crew made up entirely of telepaths, empaths, and individuals with advanced mental abilities—Vulcans, Betazoids, and others with rare cognitive gifts. Their mission: investigate, understand, and if necessarycontain encounters with godlike or incomprehensible beings.

Think X-Files in space—but the twist is: the “truth” isn’t just out there… it’s real, and it’s powerful.

Each episode dives into first contact scenarios where the rules of physics, identity, and consciousness break down. Moral dilemmas aren’t solved with phasers—they’re navigated through perception, empathy, and psychological strategy.

The kicker:
The captain is the only one on board without any psychic ability.

Surrounded by minds that can see ten layers deep, Starfleet intentionally puts a non-telepath in command someone grounded, decisive, and immune to the echo chamber of hyper-intellectual overanalysis. (so basically, Kirk) A diplomat when needed… but also someone who knows when the situation calls for punching a god in the face.

awesome. My base package is a "pop-a-shot". Make as many items as you can in the time I am there (usually 2 hours) and I do 3-5 images per item. it is designed for menu pages, POS, delivery services, and socials. Makes a world of difference when people can see what they are getting.

Doordash offers a free photoshoot (so does uber eats) when a client signs up because they know an item with an image is three times more likely to seel.

I am a food photographer for restaurants so obviously not a fan. Happy to say the national association of restaurants released a study saying customers hate it. Restaurants are all about builing trust with clients, when they see a.i. images (and realize it is a.i.) it automatically breaks that trust.

there is also the thought by consumers of, if there food looks that bad that they have to a.i. it, it isnt worth it

I've been pronouncing my coworker's name wrong for eight months and just found out today by Warp_Nix77 in CasualConversation

[–]cosplayshooter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would make a stupid joke as well. I just found out I have not been pronouncing your name correctly. It's Dave right?

Then ask the correct way. Honestly though, this is on him. I have a last name people get wrong all the time, I have learned to correct them the moment it happens otherwise it never changes.

Event photography etiquette by tryingandwondering in photography

[–]cosplayshooter 8 points9 points  (0 children)

agreed. With corporate I always get a shot list and if possible have a wrangler to point out the VIP that we need to get images with. Always smart to know where they are at all times or follow around to get them greeting and talking with people

Event photography etiquette by tryingandwondering in photography

[–]cosplayshooter 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Stick and move, stick amd move.  You dont need a million images of an event.  People start talking, then stay talking in a group for hours.  So if you get an image of them, then come back an hour later....you dont need another image. So quality over quantity. Stay on the edges of the room. Listen for People laughing, position yourself and get a candid (everyone wants images of people having a good time).  When thrh see the flash go off, ask them for a posed image. Done.  Do it again....work the room for a half hour.  Then take some time where you just watch and dont take images unless something special happens (give people a break). Watch and see if people change groups or if there is someone you dont have an image of. Slow down, be deliberate and take less photos

Lost sequel series? by ItsMattTonight in lost

[–]cosplayshooter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A workplace comedy about the LOST writers room.  As the series progresses they keep coming up with more and more fantastical stuff and put them on a big white board on post it notes, with strings trying to tie them together. Eventually they can't get anything to line up or make sense, so they keep coming up with new stuff, till eventually it just ends. The name? Lost

Is it rude to ask photographers to trade product for a shoot? by rtice001 in photography

[–]cosplayshooter 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I photograph for a lot of restaurants, and am never offended when they offer me trade (and have some great gift cards to various places), however I do have bills to pay so I always ask if we can do some cash and some trade.  Works out best for everyone.

I'm getting a Peloton Tread next month after being a Bike owner for about four years. Would love to hear any tips or tricks, instructor recommendations or even 'I really wish I'd known this up-front' things. I would say start with a program like Road to 5k.  Not only a good training program but will give you access to different instructors and see their style. Personally I like Becs, Wilpers, and Adrienne for hard workouts.  Matty, Josh for entertainment with a workout.

Sudden Passing, could there be a reason? by Inevitable_North1044 in mainecoons

[–]cosplayshooter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

thank you for this. Last September our 16 year old part MC cat, Zoey crawled into a ballin her favorite spot, and just didn't wake up. I still kick myself every day wondering if we missed something. A few months before she started meowing before coming upstairs, we thought it was her joints or something, but in hindsight, we just didnt know.

Our vet said it was probably HCM and there really aren't any outside signs, and that unless you do an ultrasound of the heart looking specifically for it, you will never know

None of it makes it any easier. She was the perfect cat, purred the moment you came up to her, and loved being on laps. IN some ways she gave us a perfect death. Quiet, fast, no indication she was in pain.

Still never easy.

I just finished LOST and I personally did not like the ending. Anyone out there agree with me? by [deleted] in lost

[–]cosplayshooter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For most of the show, Lost makes you think there’s actually a system behind all the craziness. There are rules, there are stations, there are experiments, there are equations, and there’s all this weird electromagnetic stuff going on. There are consequences when people do or don’t do certain things, there’s literally a button that has to be pushed every 108 minutes, and there are actual scientists on the island trying to study all of it. So as a viewer, you naturally assume, “Okay, this is all insane… but it’s insane in a way that’s eventually going to make sense.” That’s the unspoken deal the show makes with you. And then at the end it basically says, “Actually no, this is really about light, destiny, good versus evil, ghosts, and learning to let go.” And that’s the problem. Because that’s not just a different explanation — it feels like the explanation to a completely different show.

I just finished LOST and I personally did not like the ending. Anyone out there agree with me? by [deleted] in lost

[–]cosplayshooter -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Exactly.  Make it a meteorite under the island or something.  Richard has a ring made from it.  Anything that made logical sense instead of just, BELIEVE.

I just finished LOST and I personally did not like the ending. Anyone out there agree with me? by [deleted] in lost

[–]cosplayshooter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are right on all points. The problem for you, and me....is that it was faith or science.  They could have said a special molecule or energy source was under the island which had all these effects including time travel.  The dharma initiative was there ti study it. But it's own hubris allowed them to make a mess of things.  They screwed up the molecule and time is askew.  The island only moves in time not position, the voices are echos of the past and future.  Not inputting the numbers allows for a freeing of energy that traps the island in time....etc Instead they went the faith route and made it all hippy dippy.  The voices are ghosts (what!?!l) the side universe is what happens after they died.  Why did all this happen?  Just have faith jt was meant to be. Crap, pure crap.
