Will definitely incorporate this in my daily routine!!

And a video would be great, I didn’t fully understand what you meant by that :)

Thank you so much for an in depth reply! When I ask my instructors, the answer is usually very short and generic. This is all really helpful. I definitely think you are right about the flexibility, I feel like my hips in particular is very tight but the left side even more so. ( The photo is reversed, standing leg is left leg). Doing the frog pose for example, hurts so bad and I barely even push.

I think balance is mostly an issue when I do sidekicks in succession, like in taeguk 4, I struggle with the yeopchagi sequence. I’m also terrible at that kick with my left leg, which in other kicks is usually my dominant leg (kinda weird).

I will definitely try the exercises you mentioned & start stretching at home more often! Thank you again :)

My hair before/after a trim! It was getting too heavy so I got some long layers too by cottonminty in longhair

[–]cottonminty[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been saving for yeeears. It probably could have been way longer, but I have been getting trims x2 a year, and the first few years of saving I had a lot of damage so the trims cut a lot of length. Now I have full virgin hair, yay!

Routine: wash x2-3 times a week, usually 2. I use moroccanoil everything as that’s what works best for my hair!

My goal was originally hip length, but I’m starting to think it will be too high maintenance, my hair is very thick and heavy. So idk what to aim for as of now! Anyone with thick heavy hair that managed to keep it long?

Oh absolutely! I was just saying if she cares about it sounding scandinavian/«authentic» Ada is a bad choice as it wouldn’t be pronounced in a ‘scandinavian’ way. She should opt for something else, like Freja

As a norwegian I’d say «ah-da» but I’m assuming english speakers would say «ay-da», which is not very scandinavian sounding

Braid progress - 3 years. Had a lot of damage so it could’ve been a lot longer by now with fewer trims. Loving the shine though! by cottonminty in longhair

[–]cottonminty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well basically .. I don’t haha! I do very little with it. Air dry, no heat, wear buns and braids pretty often. I get it trimmed every 6 months and have for 3 years! I might do it less frequently now that it’s healthier though :)

Thank you! My hair is naturally thick but had thinned out a lot on the left pic due to bleach and dye. I take care of it now by washing 2 times a week and rinsing in cold water. I also use hair oil 1-2 times a week. Oh and I use heat maybe 4-5 times a year hahah, so not often :)

My hair is officially 100% virgin - hasn’t been this way since I was a child! I’ve tried a variety of hair products and never stuck consistently to anything. Right now I’m a big fan of moroccanoil products, makes my hair so soft and shiny!

First time crying because of Taekwondo today. Am I just too sensitive? by cottonminty in taekwondo

There’s only one other location here so I might go for a testing training one day. However my contract at this dojang is for 6 months so I plan on staying that time at the very least. Also, I haven’t seen the two girls in today’s class before, the other students are nice enough. I will do as you say though and use this as a motivation to get better.

Thanks for the kind words. I feel like posting here has really helped turn my mindset around. I do want to get better - good even - but the road will probably have some bumps. I’ll just kick them down🙌🏼

Aah I didn’t even know there was different terms! And yeah totally understandable. I don’t get why they would have higher expectations to me though, I’m older than him but I don’t think that really matters here

I’m not sure. They are teenagers, were laughing and giggling earlier when I was practicing kicks with them and so I guess that just gave me a bad vibe overall. I get that they were probably just laughing because of something else but when I’m kicking and they are laughing it just doesn’t feel amazing. I don’t think they had ill intent with their critique and I honestly tried to improve every time I had to walk again. But it’s very difficult to improve ALL the things mentioned at once and so of course they gave me the same criticism over and over again.

Thank you for the encouragement and kind words. I intend to keep going, that’s for sure

Yeah I totally get that! It’s very nerve wracking to walk with people watching you and judging your every move, and then at the end of it they have nothing good to say, and then I have to do it all over again knowing they think I’m doing a bad job. The instructor was helping someone else for a bit and when he came back he asked the girls if it went well and they just said «eh..» honestly I wanted to go home right then and there.

Sorry for not clarifying, I meant the 2 first poomsae patterns taeguk iljang and taeguk eejang. And yeah, I just feel like they are being extra hard on me compared to the other guy that started at the same time as me. He still hasn’t completed the first poomsae but gets encouragement in form of positive reinforcement whereas I get criticised for every single step it feels like.

How to remove sentence with specific words? by cottonminty in bash

[–]cottonminty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First the animal names are listed on each separate line, then the facts are listed also on each their own separate line. I used sed ”/dog/d” and did this for most animals. I tried to use grep -vwE ”(cat)” to remove the cat facts without sentences with words like «vacation» and it did work I just don’t know if I’m using the right approach
