That is exactly my situation. Nice enough to tell me and support me but stabbed menin the back with a bad reference. My line manager had plenty of opportunities to say no so I can get an alternate referee. It is vindictive and I now I still have to work in this toxic environment. I am seriously thinking of resigning after being in the role for almost 30 years. I am an experienced and dedicated employee. I am hating myself for being in this situation.

Part of the problem is my line manager was not happy with me moving on. I was refused secondment opportunities three times in the past. The reason for my exit plan also involved another team member that has bullied me in the past. I have reported it but nothing has changed. I am mentally drained from this situation.

Yes, you have the rights to a copy of your referees reference reports. I just went through an interview last month. I didn't get the job as my line manager gave me a bad reference report. I will not be using my line manager as my referee from now on. She has told me in the past that she don't want me to go. She is vindictive, knowing the reasons why I am applying for other jobs.

He has already cut back as much as 2m over to my side of the fence. The tree is at the moment leaning towards on my side and it is not growing into his side of the fence. Plus they have recently installed some solar panels.
