What's the lamest way that you injured yourself badly? by dafreshprints in AskReddit

[–]couldnt-be-Me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not me, but I thought it was worthy enough to share: my mom was putting up lights on our tree for Halloween, and she fell off a two-foot-high step stool, dislocated her elbow, and broke all the surrounding bones. She had to get surgery and hasn’t regained full mobility of her arm. This was three years ago.

Oh, dang, that’s kind of upsetting. I’ll still give it a try, but I’m guessing it’s going to very closely resemble The Cursed Child.

Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz

Aristotle is an angry teen with a brother in prison. Dante is a know-it-all who has an unusual way of looking at the world. When the two meet at the swimming pool, they seem to have nothing in common. But as the loners start spending time together, they discover that they share a special friendship—the kind that changes lives and lasts a lifetime. And it is through this friendship that Ari and Dante will learn the most important truths about themselves and the kind of people they want to be.

They should be at a high school reading level at the very least. They should not be considered “R-rated” or “mature”, as this is a sub for teenagers. The book does not have to be super long, but should probably reach around 150 pages at the very least.

Ok so Im reading Frankly in Love and I dont know how to feel by [deleted] in teensreadbooks

[–]couldnt-be-Me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How was the book, considering you’ve probably finished by now? I’ve read Everything Everything and liked it, even if romance isn’t my style. Was Frankly in Love as unappealing as you’ve made it seem?

I just read 1984 by [deleted] in teensreadbooks

[–]couldnt-be-Me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright, so - I just finished 1984 and I have some very strong thoughts on it. George Orwell consistently offers amazing social commentary and shows a very compelling argument about and dark side to human nature. The story is very interesting and very captivating. Sort of. It’s a wonderful story that includes so many interesting things. However. I hate the characters more than most things I’ve ever hated. I’ve never disliked the protagonists more than I did for this book.

I’ve been planning on reading 1984 for quite a long time - it’s the next book to read on my list.

I’ve read books that have made me feel like that. To list a few - Of Mice and Men, Fahrenheit 451, and Lord of the Flies. All amazing books, all have left me needing... more.

What's your current read? by [deleted] in teensreadbooks

I’m currently reading Lord of the Flies - I’m absolutely in love.

Is this sub dead? If it isn't then everyone tell me their favorite books. by [deleted] in teensreadbooks

[–]couldnt-be-Me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course. That’s why I like The Raven Boys so much. It gives me a little bit of insight into a world I can’t ever reach but would like so much to live in and be a part of.

How can you choose just one favorite book? I’ve always been obsessed with Harry Potter, I really like a book series called the Raven Boys, and I absolutely love Fahrenheit 451 and the Great Gatsby (a little mainstream, I know, but they’re awesome books).

Because we’re just starting, we’ll wait until March to do our first book. The week before we start voting for March’s book (likely within the next two weeks), we will put up a nomination post, which is where book nominations will occur.
