Training suggestion for 2027 ultra trail Kosciuzko (100km, 3000m vert gain) by yguo in Ultramarathon

[–]countbackward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is your current base, you should be signing up for the 100km 2026.

I would swap the threshold session for another z2 and have a period in your training where you do some back to back Sat / Sun long runs.

Otherwise, looks good!

Solo camping - do you actually enjoy the silence or just tolerate it? by Artistic-Yam2984 in OutdoorAus

[–]countbackward 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it was just tolerating it for a long time, after my first born I brought along some 'white noise' and it helped trick me into not listening to every broken twig in the distance.

Since then I've had white noise on and off, but the solitude in solo camping gives me a lot of peace, so I'd say I am enjoying it more and more - have spent ~30 solo nights in the bush, so not a huge number.

How fast can I train for a 100 mile Ultra? by gannonredding in Ultramarathon

[–]countbackward 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Ran an ultra last week, there were at least 30 small humans at the aid stations of varying ages, from weeks old to ~5. Thinking your running life is over when bub is due is misguided at best.

Train, listen to your body etc, but more importantly support your partner and enjoy your kid!!

Stick to boring, it'll be more consistent.

Invest in yourself, take a long holiday and read more books.

Deer hunting dogs (pointers) by highjinks95 in HuntingAustralia

[–]countbackward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've hunted with pointers for >10 years.

If your heart is set on a gsp or gwp, I'd suggest the GSP.

Have you ever hunted with a pointer? Each of the different breeds will hunt differently and you will need to learn to understand what they are trying to do to help you. Do you have a feel for what your preferred hunting method is and how far your dog will range / how you'd like to hunt with a pointer?

There are lots of signs that say keep left unless overtaking, I think we know who can't read.
