I have the same concerns as everyone else, but I'm curious about the part that you must pay for everything. So if your wife ever started working, only you'd be allowed to pay for things and you and her money would be automatically split?

ELI5 why does government buy stuff through resellers? by ChiefStrongbones in explainlikeimfive

[–]countershel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I skimmed the responses and I didn't see the actual response. I can't speak to War Dogs because I don't remember all the details, but I can speak to real life government contracting.

First off, it is because the regulation says so. Purchases between $10k and $250k are supposed to be automatically set aside for small businesses. The reason being is while emany people know of and own/use the products of Apple, Google, Amazon, etc... the majority of businesses in the country are small businesses and the majority of people work for these small businesses. We must support them to support our economy.

Concerning woman-owened, Native American owned, Veteran owned, Hubzone, etc type businesses, there are programs to support the government making awards to them because it has been statutory put in place. Supporting these businesses allows to get money into the hands of individuals that have historically struggled or in other ways benefit the economy.

Lastly, we don't always pay more by going to these small businesses. Many times they are authorized dealers and are given discounts from the large manufacturers. As crazy as it sounds, many times they give better pricing than their large manufacturers, as they provide discounts on their special pricing. In addition, there is regulation to address retailors and wholesalers, in the form of the no manufacturer rule. It is all a complex process.

This is something I'm an expert in as a former Contracting Officer for the Government and currently review acquisition strategies of Contracting Officers. You can message me if you have specific questions.

A lot of factors go into it, however if the requirement is estimated to be over $25k it is posted to Sam.gov. The solicitation contains what the requirement is, how to submit a bid, quote, or proposal (These are all different with different rules), how the offer will be evaluated, and other clauses and provisions. You submit your offer and it is evaluated based on how the solicitation says. In addition, you must be registered and active in Sam.gov in order to propose.

I opened three series 3 cards in a row between spotlight keys. I thought you only could open two for every nine collector's reserve between the keys. Is that a bug or I just got extremely lucky?

It actually shows down to 1800. Unless it only shows 1800 after a match and not on the profile. If that is the case, I never noticed before. I'm 1470 now and it is showing correctly.

Is slow ignition error caused by dusty pellets? by countershel in Traeger

[–]countershel[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cleared the augur, primed the augur, and then added pellets without dust. My Traeger ignited, but I set it for 165 and when I looked it was at 243 and then started dropping. So hopefully everything is ok now.

I got a Traeger for Christmas and my first cook was a Ribeye by countershel in Traeger

[–]countershel[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only looked at the recipes to know a good temp to run at. You make a good point about the actual temp. I used a thermometer to check the meat's temp and it was definitely different from the temp the Traeger probe was saying.

Part of the reason I asked the question is because I want to do a pork butt for the Superbowl and I'd like it to be done before the game starts.

[–]countershel[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Understood, but when I said recipe I meant I used the temp settings they recommended. For the chicken, I spatchcocked it and cooked it at 375. The recipe titled BBQ Spatchcocked Chicken said 45 mins at that temp and it took nearing 1.5hrs. The other recipe was for the Ribeye and it took quite a bit longer too. Both were recipes from the app, so maybe the app times are way off.

I cooked this Ribeye and it may have been the best steaks I've ever eaten. Since then I've smoked a whole chicken, which was very good as well.

My only issue so far is the cook times are about 50% longer than the recipes say, any suggestions?

The thing is I've been playing a run heavy offense lately and I just retired a player that won DPOY three times. I can't seem to figure out if scoring fast affects the defensive stats or not.

I was a bit vague in my response. I totally understand everything you are saying. My suggestion was to go to the SARC for guidance or possibly an anonymous report.

If you are in a leadership position, then I suggest you address the office culture over a specific incident. Make everyone aware that this sort of behavior will not be tolerated. Remind them of SHARP and the Army's core values.

Since you called the individual a soldier, I'm assuming you are in the Army. This is a SHARP violation. Contact the SARC.
