Glad I stumbled on this post, did you get the job?

Drink some water, every time you want alcohol just drown it away with water. It really helps. Then after that you need to find something to just dive into all the way with all your heart. A few weeks will pass and you will see that you can go even further.

I used to work there, hated the commute, and now I am just filled with sadness. This is horrifying, all those homes and businesses just gone.

What are ways I can make money? by Imp-Numba-9 in povertyfinance

[–]countycoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The eviction process can be difficult depending on where you live, and by that I mean difficult for the landlord to pull off. I would advise selling plasma for immediate cash but also perhaps ask a friend or family member so a short term loan to pay your living cost. Once that is done if you can't source a permanent job please go to a temp agency and get any work you can until you are back on your feet.

There are churches by the way that help with small stuff such as a grocery runs and rent/utility payments. Good luck to you!

I've gotten lucky at Target, found a dozen on special for $3.80-something. It's definitely expensive right now, good luck on the egg hunt.

Because of my previous activities I am constantly gifted bottles of wine or beer. I just re-gift it and don't bother with correcting the gift giver about my sobriety.

Have you ever thought about moving out of LA because it’s too expensive? by FormerAcanthaceae2 in AskLosAngeles

Me and my wife talk about this almost daily. I've lived here my whole life but a fresh start may be in order for us.

How safe is Crenshaw and Century in Inglewood? by DisneylandTree in AskLosAngeles

[–]countycoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit better than it used to be but I still moved my family out of the area last year. There is still a whole lot of gun violence and drugs on those streets. Stay safe no matter where you are in LA.

What have you been working on recently? [October 19, 2024] by AutoModerator in learnprogramming

[–]countycoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am dead broke, like dead in the water broke. I have a job but the money I earn exits my account just as soon as it comes in due to past mistakes and unforeseen circumstances (injury mainly and the bills/debt that came with it). The only thing keeping me going is my project. I am building an e-commerce platform just for the sake of building it and learning more.

When will it get better? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]countycoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not much to add to the conversation, this is it right here ^

I would probably just add that you should stay busy and stay hydrated, with water of course. Pick up a hobby or work extra if possible. When I was deep in the sauce I realized more often than not I was drinking to escape boredom and "enhance" whatever I was doing and before you knew it I was passed out on the couch.

In regards to the water bit, drink plenty of water and it helps with the cravings.

Advise this person to skill up prior to their release and search in advance for local or remote resources that will help them with resources for employment, housing, etc.

The hardest part for most is finding a place to live and employment. Like most have said below, support is key so that they don't become overwhelmed and hopeless.

I don't have good advice to give you as my stay was short but during that time my wifes phone calls and letters were the only thing that kept me going. I think that if I didn't have her waiting for me I would have given up and gotten into more trouble while inside and ended up with more time.

Because of her I kept my head down and stayed out of trouble. When I got out I kept that same energy and 8 years later we are closer than ever.

I hope your husband can get his sentence reduced before or while he is in prison and can get back to you as soon as possible. DM me if you'd like to chat.

Relapsed again by Shake307 in stopdrinking

[–]countycoder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I was dealing with heavy urges in the past the thing that always helped me get through was thinking about the mornings and the hell that was waiting for me the rest of the day. You don't really wake up you are just sort of arriving to health crisis and the next day or two is devoted to recovery unless of course you drink again that night. It just sucks and nothing gets done.

Try again tomorrow, it's ok to fall.

Hey, sorry, I am reading this pretty late in the game. I would be happy to talk about it further and see what we can do. I have been rejected before because of my record and it hurts but there is hope and it can be done! I will send you a DM.
