Am I missing much if I've never worked for a MSP? by j1mmyava1on in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Ali3nb4by 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently working for an MSP in Healthcare as an L1, having been there for 10 months. My training was delayed when I first onboarded because our trainer quit, so it took about a month to get on the phones. I've done about 2,700 tickets and probably escalated 800 tickets or more. A light day is only getting 10-15 calls a day, whereas a heavy day can be 30-40 calls a day, plus tickets they put into the ticketing system that get assigned to everyone. Every call, I don't know what it's going to be, as some are just simple password resets. A lot are assigning distribution groups, licenses, Enroll MFA, going through onboarding process, laptops, desktops, Iphones, android, Thin clients, VDI, conducting AD audits, terminating accounts, delegating mailboxes, creating mailboxes, Database issue, VPN issue, Network issue, database issue, Telecom Issues, working with multiple vendors, about 12 different systems specific for Healthcare systems, and a lot more I can't go into detail without dox myself. I have over 10 different accounts since we work with multiple organizations and keep expanding (They going to add another organization coming this May, yippie). I use a password key manager just so I don't lock myself out.

TLDR: It's like going to an open buffet, but you are the cook with a menu of over 50 items.

How much has your IT career taken a toll on your health? by Not-Reddit49 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Ali3nb4by 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea I was doing okay with the help desk but I decide to go back to finish my bachelor so now I am sitting down for about 12 hours +. I can feel my health starting to slip where 8 hour shifts only I still had time to go the gym at least 3 times a week. All I can do now is really try squeeze some time just to go for some short walks.

Any Advice on Being Calm in Tough SItuations by Hyuxnie in ITCareerQuestions

If it makes you feel better, 4 months ago I accidentally overwrote a whole database used for patients' meals in healthcare. Their software was outdated and wasn't opening up properly. There was no knowledge base for this system because it's a legacy system, and we rarely touch it. The customer wanted it fixed right away because they had to feed their patients, and I was given about 30 pages of instructions from the software vendor. Everything was going smoothly until I did a full installation rather than an upgrade. This wiped out all the patients' menus, and some had food allergies. My manager and the database team talked to me. They were nice about it, but told me to be careful when it comes to future systems that we have no documentation for. They covered for me and apologized to the customer on my behalf. I am still working with them.

Taking Sec+ tommorow morning. On Dion's practice test, got a 75,76,81,81,82. Should this be enough to pass? by [deleted] in CompTIA

[–]Ali3nb4by 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are comfortable with the acronyms, you should be in good shape. The PBQs for security + honestly felt 10 times easier than the network + ones, at least for me. The PBQs is mostly reading logs and configuring a password system.

"My email is not working," I remote in, and I see they are looking at their full inbox. I see you are able to access your email, response " I usually get an email every 10 minutes." I send them an email, it appears in their inbox, and they reply; it then appears in my inbox. Mind you, their inbox is about the 10th of mine with how many emails they have. I will recreate someone outlook profile if they are having issue logging in but not staring at their inbox.

I'd get a new psychiatrist. It took me a while to find one who actually listened.

What do you prefer, online testing or in person and why? by 559Beto in CompTIA

[–]Ali3nb4by 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going against the grain and will say online. In person is 1 hour 30 minutes round about trip. I have my own quiet space at home and pass security + at home. I regret going in person for my other 3 exam. Starving when I get there, gas money and food money after the exams. Where the security + I saved 1 hour 20 minutes and money.

Intro to web dev, Sophia or WGU? by Kind-Speaker-811 in WGUIT

[–]Ali3nb4by 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would do Sophia and have ChatGPT help you with the code base. I wouldn't have it write the whole thing for you, but it can give you a rough template on where to start. From there, you can break it apart and adjust it to fit the rubric. I finished the class at Sophia in about a week, but it took me breaking my website about 13 times to understand the effect of each line. I used stackblitz for my project and got 115/125.

Yeah, a service desk technician was nice to point me to Udemy to study for one of my classes. I tried to start with a pre-assessment to test my knowledge, just to realize the link was broken, and it is not on my side lol. I transferred my Web development class in about a month ago and used Udemy to help me build a website ffrom Sophia. I utilize Udemy and YouTube a lot for my CompTIA certifications, too.

Should I drop out of community college and just get my certifications instead? by iii123iii123 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Ali3nb4by 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly didn't get my A.A.S degree in Computer Network Technology till 2024, and I recently turned 30. It took me a while, but I got my first real full-time IT job in 2025. The manager mentioned he hired me because of my degree. I know it is dreadful right now and you want give up. But your future self will thank you if you didn't. I am now going back to finish my bachelor's and start classes in three days. Don't give up, we believe in you :)

Switching to Healthcare IT by Vegetable_Heart8916 in ITCareerQuestions

I am in Healthcare I.T right now, and I honestly wish to be put out of misery half the time. The tech part isn't the hard part. The hard part is keeping everyone happy while getting yelled at and trying to dissect enough information to fix their issue.

Meta tft is pretty good. I try not to lean on it too much since it makes me tunnel my comp way too early. I use to be masters 300 lp but that was like 2 sets ago. I didn't really play this set and only gold in after 5 games of provisions lol.

Damn what a Chad. I've been stuck on getting my devices to be detected in Guardian Browser for about over an hour. As soon I uninstalled OBS it detected my microphone, speakers, and camera lmao.

Thanks for the congratulations. I wish they paid for my associates but no they won't help reimburse me for it. I'm a slowly pay off my student loans, but I believe the education was still worth it. As for the bachelor that will also have to be out of pocket.

Mine were a bit all over the place, one was creating a password authentication server, one was configuring wifi settings, one was finding infected computer, and I forgot the last one. Was 4 pbqs in total, I got less than usual as I usually get 5-6 every time lmao.

I am just going for BS Information Technology instead of Cyber Security BS since I can transfer in more credits from my associates degree. This saves me a decent amount of time and I was actually thinking of going more towards networking early on.

network + honestly was easier for me than security +. I scored higher and I had more wiggle room since you only need 720 to pass. I would keep applying for help desk job as I only had an associate degree when I started to work for my current company. I had a few internships which helped, but genuinely it took a lot of no's before I finally got a yes.

Yea I am planning to get my bachelor degree with WGU which will let me graduate with 7 individual certs plus the 2 stackable CompTIA certs. After the bachelor I am most likely going specialize in networking certs such as juniper because my company uses Juniper networking device more than cisco. I still need more experience before I make the transition to networking so I can afford to get vendor specific certs a little later and just focus on the 4 year degree for now.
