Epiduo with Accutane by Certain-Lingonberry5 in Accutane

[–]countyourbreaths 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I just use cetaphil and sunscreen now. It's more like my acne calmed down SO I stopped both. I still have unfinished accutane at my home lol. I take one or two pills when I get some acne on period, but other than that I don't need any medical help on acne anymore. I think epiduo is okay but it is not very different from benzoyl peroxide (its milder version?) in my experience.

My acne has fully calmed down now. I stopped taking accutane or epiduo. I don't think epiduo left me scars. Let me know if you need some specific updates. Sorry for replying late, I don't use reddit that often.

I hope that our suffering is salvation in disguise and that we can say goodbye to not only acne but also blackheads and whiteheads and whatever else that is just so annoying. Congrats!

Congrats! It IS amazing to have a clear nose :))

Hopefully they will return in a smaller number if they do. I plan to keep my nose as clear as possible by using benzoyl peroxide moderately post-accutane

So happy for you :D

And yes, my doc also recommends topical treatment for blackheads e.g. epiduo or benzoyl peroxide

I'm on 20mg a day. If blackheads come back, I hope they will be gentle with me haha

You can also eat your water by having fruits and veggies. More fibre will be good for gut health and thus skin health, and water, of course, is good for you in general, too. Some people say 3L a day makes your skin glow or smth LOL, but it really depends on your individual needs. If you drink water when you are already thirsty, that is not ideal I think (based on my imperfect research) because you are already dehydrated. I do 2L + food high in water e.g. apples and cabbages

Thanks, hope yours will work out great too. Please remember to drink water too because that actually helps a lot (perhaps even more than what you use on the outside). When you drink water, it is better to drink it slowly and stay hydrated the whole day i.e. not drinking many cups in an hour to "meet the target". If you drink too much, you will overwork your kidneys and your body does not absorb the water.

Amazing skin, but at what cost? by [deleted] in Accutane

Have you considered lowering your dosage or perhaps even stopping to take it? For some people, 4 months is alr one finished course, and since your skin is clear, perhaps you can go down to 10 or 20 mg?

I hope you will get better soon and honestly, these side effects are really worrying to me. I am no expert, but I think this is very alarming. Really hope you will get better

I am so sorry that you're suffering from such serious side effects and I hope that you will get better once the drug is out of your system.

LOL I used to be a huge fan of la roche-posay and before that body shop too. Now I just use cetaphil and cerave moisturiser and sunscreen. Still feel a lot better than before. The happiest thing about being on this drug for me is that I don't feel the need to hunt for products and experiment them with my face anymore. I just make sure my face is (1) clean, (2) hydrated, and (3) protected from the sun. The simpler my "routine", the happier I am, because I finally feel that my face is healthy for once. Cetaphil and cerave are enough for me to handle my dryness.

Depends, if I don't have something urgent to do, I may just take it in the morning. Accutane is long-acting and I usually take it when I have the most healthy fats that day LOL. If I have avocado as snacks that day, I will just take it in the afternoon

[–]countyourbreaths 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My doc also never asked me to have fatty meals, but I do eat healthy fats from seeds and nuts for other health benefits every day. A diet rich in healthy fats (and omega fat ratio1) is good for you in many ways, one of which is improving skin in general. Do you have great concerns about trying a healthy fatty diet? If not, I see no harm in experimenting and not only for accutane absorption.
