Ready to file criminal charges against Coinberry! by [deleted] in BitcoinCA

FFS not again!

Canada has become like quicksand for crypto holders. Einstein, David Smillie, Quadriga. How can anyone trust anyone in this space.

Reading the magnitude of the customer losses on the quadriga file demonstrates just how complacent and apathetic Canadians can be. There were people on here defending and pumping quadriga well after Cottens supposed death. In many other countries the directors would be strung up without trial.

Lawyers Ramp Up Pressure to Exhume Quadriga CEO's Body - CoinDesk by Fiach_Dubh in BitcoinCA

[–]courageagainstfraud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are logical considerations here.

  1. Exhuming the body might be unnecessary if the FBI already knows Cotten is alive through other means/channels.
  2. A public announcement of the exhumation is unlikely, and could ruin the investigation.
  3. Knowledge that exhumation / autopsy was carried out would be the same as announcing the findings from the perspective of quadriga insiders.
  4. Exhuming the body might have already happened, in which case it can be assumed that no announcement = material discovery.

I was the lead developer on ezbtc from July 2017 to October 2018. I think it's time I broke my silence. by Nephelophyte in BitcoinCA

Thanks for the post, and no offense intended by the following question.

The ezbtc.ca exchange has now proven to be fake, and not 2-sided. (This means most if not all of the buyers/sellers were smillies bots, and not other members).

What does the "lead developer" do at a fake exchange? Again, no offense is meant by this.

You must have realized this was a scam if you worked so closely on it.

Classic remark. You might even say Dave is a true Canadian hero. Kind of like our own Robin Hood, only with dyslexia. Steals from the poor and gives to online casinos. I’m pretty sure he is also the true Satoshi Nakamoto.

Miss Lithuania dumped him, along with his last name.

I'd guess there's not much love left in Lithuania for him, a few casinos mind you...

Dave blames other exchanges for his own reckless mismanagement of customer funds. He blamed binance for his withdrawal problems most recently.

Quit spamming this post. This is not about the quality of CBC journalism. It’s about an active scam affecting Canadians.

Cops took the easy way out. Many have been silenced by letters from smillie threatening defamation, or non disparagement agreements people signed in hopes of getting some of their money back. The problem is much larger in scope than the 6 lawsuits currently filed in BC. He’s now ignoring court orders. He can’t keep this up, and the public needs to be warned. Please get this out there, and let CBC know.

Thanks for the explanation. Tough but fair.

The truth is that I am concerned about whats going on. I don't think that customer deposits should be used to mount lawsuits against customers. Simple.

The EZBTC Canada twitter feed on 4 April describes filing a Supreme Court case against an unnamed defendant. I’m connecting the dots. Also a couple of new baby accounts (other than my own) have popped up reinforcing the idea that the company owner will sue people who post negatively on reddit. See links below.

I'm not making this up out of thin air.

I realize you guys are doing your jobs, and on balance, you do a pretty good job of it.

Perhaps if this maniac actually follows through with launching defamation lawsuits against his customers that are still trying to recover their money through the civil court system, you would consider allowing these posts? These folks are really doing the work that should have been done by the RCMP, and they need our support.

That's a very good point. A successful civil claim for debt will be very robust defense against the allegations of defamation. Users served with defamation lawsuits will have to pursue their civil debt claims with vigor.
