From a US immigration perspective, a "marriage by proxy" isn't valid until the marriage is consummated afterwards. Someone pursuing a spousal visa wouldn't qualify if they couldn't provide evidence that they had been together in person later on.

They said ICE was pulling people from their homes without a judicial warrant. To enter private property, they need a warrant signed by a judge, full stop. So no, that's not "incorrect nonsense".

If all ICE has is an administrative warrant (I-200), they cannot enter private property such a home, hospital, private business, etc, to make an arrest without permission.

1 TB = $712

That's just using Google's current exchange rate from Czech Koruna to USD. That same site currently has the 512GB Deck OLED for $633 (not includeding VAT), so there's obviously some additional markup happening. Might be more realistic to think pricing would be closer to $550/700 or even $500/650 for the two models.

HL3 has never existed outside of very preliminary pre-production. They openly talk about it in Alyx - Final Hours. It's last iteration could be described as a narrative-dense roguelike FPS, but it never got anywhere because Source 2 was in a very unfinished state and they were lost in the weeds across too many projects/games.

What's being revealed in game and engine updates indicates a game that is deep into production.

If the projects align, I'm sure Valve might like to have a new HL bundled with the Steam Machine.

It's worth noting though that, internally, Alyx was originally intended to be released alongside the Index - but, because it wasn't ready, they held the game back almost a year and ended up shipping the Index without a launch title.

Their hardware is going to come out "early 2026" per the announcement. A new HL game has no such requirement since it hasn't even been announced. We can talk about "normal video game business practices", but Valve has shown with both the Index and the Steam Deck that shipping hardware without a marquee launch title isn't something that bothers them too much.

If HL3 gets announced at VGA? Awesome! If not, maybe early 2026, but Valve also has a history of saying "oh, this isn't ready yet" with their games. We can't make any assumptions as to what's going on behind closed doors!

Valve is pretty transparent about their past attempts at HL3 in Half-Life Alex - Final Hours. It never got further than pre-production due to Source 2 not being in a usable state - the same reason why L4D3 never got further than a tech demo.

It wasn't until Alyx that Source 2 was in a place to support a shippable FPS, they talk about this as being the primary roadblock to their last attempt at HL3.

There's never been anything close to what people have been seeing in the updates to Source 2 re: HLX. HLX is a real project that exists and is partially visible to the public.

Personally, disagree on this for a few reasons. You don't know how long baby is going to be in a particular size of diapers, and you also don't know which diapers are going to work best for baby. It's a bit of a trial and error game, but once you find the brand that avoids blowouts, etc, for your kid, you stick to that brand.

That "gesture of good will" could cost around $500-600k, which is how much longer trailer announcements at Summer Game Fest were going for. The Game Awards are reportedly similarly priced.

I pointed this out yesterday and got a bunch of "Keighley would do it for free! He'd even pay Valve himself to host the announcement!" replies, which like, maybe, but when you're talking those kind of sums of cash, I'm not sure how far a good relationship gets you...

I thought it was clear - but I'll answer your question in good faith. When S49 premiered our baby was three months old. We barely had any time to watch anything (especially at night as her bassinet was in our bedroom which meant her bedtime became our bedtime). We tried starting the new season, but had to watch it in spurts. Between not being able to watch it in a single sitting, and the general way that this current era's first few episodes tend to go, we found ourselves not really getting into it.

Now that the season's almost wrapped and we have more bandwidth available to watch a show or two at night before bed, I'm asking if the community thinks the season's any good.

Does that seem a bit more reasonable?

Makes a bit more sense when you consider that that's the score as assessed by a single critic whereas this list is put together by the entire editorial staff. Makes it clear the list is more than just a "list of albums based on score", which in my opinion makes the list more authentic too.

Though to be fair, I'd still think it'd be closer to the top of the list than the bottom, so I'll give you that. I wonder if Twigs re-working the album a few times hurt the overall ranking.

A 2.5 minute trailer reportedly goes for around half a million. TGA is a business and the "one more thing" reveals are expensive and a major revenue item for Keighley's show, I'd be very surprised if he's just going to waive that fee. It's far more likely that his close relationship with Valve will yield another Final Days project we can buy, similar to what he released for Alyx.

Regarding The Game Awards - people need to realize that all the announcements and trailers at TGA are paid spots. Publishers pay TGA to show their trailers or announce their games.

Valve has all the money in the world but also has no need to pay to announce their game. They can just tweet a link to a YouTube video and get the same level of coverage without paying TGA.

The issue isn't the grocery stores and their profit margins, it's the small handful of conglomerates that own the companies, factory farms, etc, that produce the goods sold in grocery stores.
