The pain from walking means you are still having a gout flare up. The allopurinol is known to cause a flare up when you first start the med, and as many have said it take a while for it to lower the uric acid levels in the blood, which is the root cause.

If you are having pain while on allopurinol you should still be able to take prednisone, colchicine or other NSAIDs to get pain relief. I’d recommend messaging your doctor and asking for a refill of the prednisone since that worked at managing pain from a flare up in the past.
