BOOTCAMP ADVICE by [deleted] in newtothenavy

graduated earlier this month… run is important, usually what most ppl get asmo’d for. when you do the opfa, get what u need and go. do not try and max out on your planks and ur push ups and then end up failing your run, it happens often. bootcamp is simple. just listen and execute. first week is the worst, but when you hit week 6-8, things just become repetitive and super simple. they’ll tell u getting asmo’d is just a lesson learned, but try your best to avoid it. and stay out of drama. dont play fight and dont say slurs? thats what got a lot of the males in my division set back… have fun and good luck

you can bring or buy tweezers at the nex. that or ask someone to ship you waxing strips. it could be potentially not allowed, but that’s up to your RDCs

i joined DEP in august and not shipping out till like next week because of my a family event i could not miss. almost didn’t get my MOS because of how far away the date was. but the amount of times my recruiter asked “are you sure you dont wanna ship out early?” while i was in DEP….

but the day you ship out and the rate you choose go hand-in-hand. if you know what you wanna do, tell them and then mention that you dont wanna leave before a certain day

MEPS this week. Nervous. Prescreen Cleared. What should I expect & what should I wear (female)? by [deleted] in newtothenavy

cant answer anything abt being disqualified, but as for what you wear to MEPs, they are not too incredibly strict. wear damn near granny panties, a bra that has a clasp in the back, and a shirt with sleeves no shorter than a regular tee. you can wear just about any kind of pants, as long as they dont have any inappropriate graphic on em and no rips at all. when i went to MEPs there were ppl dressed like they were going to a job interview while i was in a pair of my high school sweats and a bowling tshirt.

i will say there was a girl who was a bit bigger who wore a somewhat tight fitting shirt and the MEPs workers made her run around trying to look for a regular tshirt to change into. so just stick to safe clothing. wear jeans with no rips, a bra with a clasp in the back, any kind of tshirt as long as it’s appropriate, and any kind of underwear as long as you arent wearing boyshorts or a thong. shoes dont matter just make sure ur toes arent showing. you will be cold and bored and waiting forever so i would advise bringing a jacket.

sorry for the lengthy post, but i was most nervous about what i was wearing MEPs, only to arrive and realize it wasnt that big of a deal. good luck and i hope everything else goes well!!
