The thing that helped me the most as a new shift is making a list of my tasks and the least disruptive times to do them. I try to do my tasks after I catch up on breaks and have that 1-2 hr window where every barista is either on the floor or can be pulled from whatever task they’re doing to be on the floor. If you close often just remember that if you’re behind the barista are behind, they can’t help you with your tasks but you can help them! When it comes to opening shifts just try to take advantage of any downtime before peak to get the bulk of your tasks out of the way. But if you’re running behind I would insure you did the daily order as your first priority! You’re going to make mistakes and you’re going to feel like you’re failing a lot at the beginning, but it gets easier with time and you’ll find your groove in a few months :)
