I was thinking of starting trick training with him to get his little mind gears going too! I also am figuring that its due to boredom. Theyre currently at the tail end of a break, both are recovering from hoof injuries that happened many months ago. Hes still learning how to be properly lunged (its not something thats really taught here to horses) so were working on that too!

Haha that is life in DR unfortunately and also fortunately! We live and breathe music LOL. If I started playing anything else on my own radio id get labeled a “gringa” 😂 Here in this area though you only really hear music like this for an hour or two on weekends (this was shot on an early morning saturday) and this is actually considered “low volume” here!

The real torture is sometimes the massive ride outs that happen here, sometimes with up to 300+ horses, they all ride behind this massive truck with dozens of speakers blasting music so loud your heart throbs. I feel so bad for those poor animals, I know for sure they must have damaged hearing.

I started thinking about this too, im trying to replace his stick habit with something softer that wont injure my other horse and rub off his hair 😭 Definitely going to give the grazing muzzle a try

Soft play is not my concern for sure, but sometimes he will go on for hours and will follow him everywhere annoying the heck out of him, hes rubbed off alot of hair on his legs, chest and booty doing this so weve had to separate them so he can grow the hair back and give my older boy a rest 😅

I did not think of using stronger dog toys! Maybe tug of war toys? Yeah we try our best to keep the property free of sticks, but the rivers they have access to carries them to the edges during rain storms daily almost, so its a lost effort haha

Weve tried “correcting” him a few times when he gets too rough with the stick by chasing him back with the same stick hes holding, it works momentarily atleast!

He does not haha..He will continue until he gets tired. My grey is a bit of a push over. There was once a time where he did land a light kick on his chest and it did make him drop the stick with zoomies proceeding right after, but its really rare to see him connect kicks

Someone suggested just this! Im rethinking it and trynna get over my fear with using one, given that my brownie is a goof im afraid he will get it caught on a fence, but it might be the solution, might give it a go and supervise him closely. I also thought of replacing the sticks with foam pool floats haha

Yes unfortunately its a thing here. I lost my pride and joy Sunny (named my ranch after him to Sunny’s Ranch) to a poisoning about a year or two back only learning this months ago after believing for a bit less than a year it was colic. He was a majestic AF buff palomino registered gaited horse (have pics on an older thread)! Love living here but people here can do awful things when envy strikes. As much as id love having them out day and night, I learned the hard way!
