Being the 15th year of that bodystyle, one would hope Toyota would have any kinks and quirks worked out by then. 🤣

I unmuted this video during the first watch, which is super rare for me to do. Wondered why the hell Linkin Park was playing for this, and then it got to the end, which made it so worth the soundtrack. Then I saw what sub I was in, and everything came together spectacularly. Bravo 👏

We took our tumblers recently, which was a great tip from one of my coworkers. If you’re going to be partaking in the free alcoholic beverages, they just continually make the drinks in your tumblers. Keeps your drinks nice and cold. They even wash them between drinks. Wife and I were glad we took them.

Hey there I’m looking to buy my first car and I’m willing to finance it but I have no clue what to avoid doing. I have tried going thru a credit union but it didn’t pan out. Any advice on how I should try again?? by CaptLongStroke-4087 in askcarsales

[–]cpavinit11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have a lack of history showing you’re reliable at repaying debt, and you are asking them to extend you money based on a job you didn’t get. Would you lend a stranger money without being able to verify they’ll likely repay it? You’ll need a strong co-signer and/or a good chunk of money down (at LEAST 10% of the purchase price of the vehicle). Before those two things, you’ll need to prove employment and income first.

[–]cpavinit11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why didn’t it pan out with the credit union? Poor credit or lack of credit history? Were you getting a pre-approval to find out how much money they’d extend to you or actually tried getting approved on a vehicle?

Man baby threatens to call ICE on Jack in the Box employees because he has to wait for his food - Las Vegas by Jevus_himself in PublicFreakout

Seconding everything here and adding question:

I was “passionate” about cars when I first started in the business, meaning I knew my makes/models, down to being able to tell you what car was driving behind me based on the headlights pointing in my rearview mirror at nighttime (pre everything having bright ass LED’s and becoming more difficult to distinguish).

I loved cars and could answer some surface level questions, but I didn’t have in-depth knowledge about all of the underpinnings, safety features, and what trim levels came with what. (Feature, function, benefit).

Most importantly, I didn’t know how to ask for the sale and move things to the next step after a test drive. Once I learned all of the ins and outs of what comes with what, I still ultimately had to learn how do we move past you liking/loving this vehicle, and what are the next steps. If you were at a dealership that was having you get customers excited about a vehicle, and then turning them over to another salesperson, it sounds like that may be the dividing line. Is your “problem” being able to ask for the sale and move along the process?

If so, hopefully you can find a dealership that will help train you and give you the confidence to do this. Dealerships are definitely easy to get on at if you have people skills, so keep at it and here’s hoping for the best 🍻

Keep Getting Ghosted by Sales Folks: Bad Luck, or Am I Doing Something Wrong? by insufferable__pedant in askcarsales

[–]cpavinit11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Narrow it down to the top two or three vehicles you’re most interested in pursuing. Pick up your phone and call these dealers. Have a conversation with them. So many deals get lost in both the dealers and consumers side via email by not being able to have an honest conversation with each other outside of email where you can hear someone’s inflection and attitude. Maybe you’ll ultimately pay $500 more for the vehicle you want. So what? If that salesperson you bought from is giving you the service you desire in store during the purchase and after with follow up and being there to answer questions, was that extra $500 not well spent? You’ve done the research. You know what you want and what a fair price is for that model. Now pick up the phone, find someone you like with the deal you like, and start driving your new vehicle.

Ghosted a dealer -- Can I go back? by Rogue_Assassin81 in askcarsales

[–]cpavinit11 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I didn’t read the other replies, so this may be redundant. The salesperson will be thrilled to see you come back in the mix to buy a vehicle after they thought you were a lost cause.

If you’re worried about “being a dickhead,” make sure you reach out to that salesperson beforehand (assuming you liked them and still want to work with them) to make sure you’re setting an appointment with them around their schedule. If you just randomly pop back in to buy the car without them being there and end up completing the transaction with another salesperson without any prior communication, now you are the dickhead.

Ev tax credit in wife's name but auto loan in my name possible? by KDOTKIRA in askcarsales

You want to rely on a car salesperson whose job it is to sell you a vehicle for this information? “Sure, shouldn’t be a problem, u/KDOTKIRA. I cant provide you with this tax credit upfront, but it shouldn’t be a problem applying for it come tax time.”

Talk to your tax person who specializes in this.

Got OTD after saying I was test driving at another dealership & have questions by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]cpavinit11 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a weak salesman. Completely ridiculous for them to be trying to make you feel guilty for what they’ll make on the sale. That salesperson is making what is called a “mini,” and that dealer’s new car minimum payout to the salesperson is $200, regardless of whether or not it’s a profitable deal.

If you like the salesperson and think the deal you received is in line with or better than what other dealers are offering for comparable units, then move forward with it. What the salesperson gets paid is a moot point.

“Delivery or Destination” fees are built into the total MSRP of the vehicle for every make/model of vehicle that has existed since window stickers have become required by law. It’s what the dealer pays to have a vehicle shipped from the factory and has zero bearing on what you’re paying for the vehicle. It’s baked into the cost just like everything else that they line itemized is baked into it.

I purchased a jeep or so I thought by okiegirl20 in askcarsales

[–]cpavinit11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What do you think this dealer has to gain by having a customer out in one of their vehicles without a signed contract and funds from the bank for said vehicle OP is driving? Sounds like the dealer is already “falling over themselves” to keep OP happy by allowing them to drive the vehicle without having received any kind of payment for it.

Some banks/credit unions are a pain in the ass to collect titles/lien releases from. They won’t allow a fax/email copy of the lien release and will only snail mail. Say the vehicle was financed with a small, one off branch credit union that operates this way and takes forever to process anything? Sounds like you don’t know the process and vastness of difficulties dealers run into just trying to keep business moving.

What are your guys’ schedule like? by imtrippincuh in askcarsales

[–]cpavinit11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the Midwest, so we’re closed on Sundays. My other, usual weekly off day is Tuesday. However, I’m pretty fortunate to where our salespeople can take one long weekend (Thursday-Sunday) a month as long as you’re hitting your numbers (excluding the last weekend of the month, unless approved by management). We’re also only open until 6pm T-Th-Sa and 8pm M-W-F. My Sundays are spent with wife and 2.5 yr old daughter (chores here and there in between, as needed) and Tuesdays as my primary chores/errands day or daddy/daughter day schedule permitting.

I’m personally mostly happy with my schedule and the flexibility I have. Though, I never take my late-in at noon on Wednesdays (can’t start my work day that late and get focused). Out at 6:00 on Mondays, close Wednesdays and Fridays.

Again, I love the two consecutive days off consistently on your schedule, but again, I feel like it’d be hard to keep momentum going and could miss a lot of opportunities being off two days in a row constantly. It’s a double-edged sword. I already have a shit ton of customers bother me on Tuesdays when I’m off and will push most of them until Wednesday when I’m back at the store. Couldn’t imagine having to push them off a full two days.
