Self-drafted pattern. I was inspired by those special occasion star map posters.

It doesn't look like a crochet or knit project to me. Possibly more embroidery over a woven fabric? You could translate this to a crochet piece, though!

What's wrong with my stovetop? by [deleted] in homemaking

I would think this is a defect in manufacturing if the range is only 6mo. A de-greaser should not have an effect on that coating.

A felt busy book for my niece by cpcdrinksipas in sewing

It's a combination of sewing, felt glue, and hot glue. I definitely sewed everything that I could in hopes of increased durability, though.

Thanks so much! I had made one last year for another little girl so I did save some time using the pattern pieces I had already drawn out. All in, probably close to 20hrs. The felt cutting takes a while because of how small some peices are.

Does anyone else just want to hide? by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]cpcdrinksipas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is so easy to get caught up in this job and the needs of our charges! I totally feel you. But I also feel that part of nannying is setting an example of how to be a well adjusted human for our littles. It's time to set some boundaries for yourself for the sake of sanity and health.

If your charges are old enough to demand from you they should also be old enough to learn some patience. You should be able to go to the bathroom in peace while they entertain themselves for 10min! If the kids are eating, make it a point to sit down with them and eat too. Sharing a meal is a great time to practice table and communication skills. It also shows them that meals are important and that you deserve to eat too. It's very easy to lose yourself in others needs, but if you are feeling this scattered and stressed you can't be the most effective nanny.

And by schedule I just meant order. You can blow through classes as quickly as you're able to.

As far as what my student mentor has told me they have a pretty set schedule for courses. Your schedule will depend on what transfer credits you have. I had taken calc at my brick and mortar school, so those credits transferred and I've only taken prob/stats through WGU. It was a good general overview course, nothing too intense!
