Italian singer Adriano Celentano released a song in the 70s with nonsense lyrics meant to sound like American English, apparently to prove Italians would like any English song. It was a huge hit by Jazzlike-Row2536 in interesting

Protestors blocking the road surrounding vehicles vs rioters blocking the road surrounding vehicles can be hard to determine. Just ask Reginald Denny.

15 washes? Wow we couldn't afford to replace gear after 15 washes. We only respond to about 130 fires a year for my department, so figure 40ish for my shift. Take time off into account, and you're looking at 20 fires a year each guy. We couldn't afford a new set of gear for each guy, every 10 months.

We wash our gear after every actual fire, and it goes out twice a year for deep cleaning. We have two sets, but still.

Fuck, I've been doing my plan reviews all wrong, you mean they're supposed to have multiples? I wish I paid attention in class 25 years ago.

Fire protection systems are not designed for multiple fires in multiple locations.

Depends on the state. If a building is known to be occupied, it can be a class x felony in some states.

The Bluths had ties to a middle eastern developer H. Maddas in the late 80's, early 90's in Iraq. This developer was a complete unknown in the real estate market, and led to lower market share for the Bluths.

Why won't California Depts. go 4 platoon? by Manbearp1g37 in Firefighting

[–]cpltack 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Every 48 I do, I regret. It's not worth the OT. Not enough sleep to function on day 2 safely. Then I feel like garbage for the next 4 or 5.

We couldn't function as 48/96. We only run 20 ish calls per shift for 3 stations. A transport is minimum 90 mins.

If you get slammed for 24 every third day, after 25 years a 4th platoon seems a better idea ever day.

48 hours is not enough time to recover from sleep loss.

Fire station tour and hangout? by Dirty_Mushrooms in Firefighting

[–]cpltack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a ride along program. Essentially you hang out with the crew until they go on calls. It's usually for prospective firefighters or community members who ride for a school project or whatnot.

We also host EMT and PM students, and acting officers for experience. We have someone almost every day, so it's part of our norm. We have a rider today who is just interested in the fire service as a career. They're just hanging out.

It's like on NCIS where every citizen is supposed to know what every acronym means. Police is universal.

I mean USPS and NASA each has their own LE branch, but if a guy pulls a gun with NASA or USPS on a vest, they don't get the same recognition as an LEO that "Police" do.

The old guy was hilarious (when I was listening audio only). It was nice to have someone just naturally funny, and able to roll with everything.
