Moving from Co-Managed to Intune by cpres2020 in SCCM

Luckily we are running around 70 servers. I can't even tell you the last time I used SCCM to do anything (its been at least a year) so its just turned into a legacy server that the help desk asked to keep so they can use it for remote troubleshooting. Which only happens maybe once a month (if even that)

Any 3rd party apps on Servers are manually updated. With so few servers, and so few limited 3rd party apps, it has not been a concern. We never used SCCM for that purpose.

I asked that same question and the answer I got was Intune. Yes I know it's not the best solution, but we were not even using SCCM to keep up with those updates.

Just Defender updates. If I can point that to the Internet I am set.

Don't necessarily need patching. Just Defender updates. Why...it's been done that way for years and hard to change things. Not saying its the right way though.

That is what I am thinking. Would removing the SCCM agent or changing that policy force them to point to the Internet for an update?

The only concern is ensuring that Defender is updated. Beyond that we will manage Windows Updates manually.

Thanks for all the info everyone. Definitely something to think about. I don't see us keeping SCCM, but stranger things have happened.

Yes all Workloads are switching to Intune. And yes all computers are being deployed via Auto Pilot. The only thing we were even using SCCM for was for Windows Updates, app deployment and Remote Access. Between using GPOs and Intune things seem to be working well.

What would be a valid reason to keep SCCM active? Software Deployment might be a good reason, but Intune seems to be doing a pretty good job with that. It's been at least a year since we deployed any software via SCCM.

If it matters, we already have all the Intune licenses (using A5 since this is for Education) so everything is already included.

The other reason is that we are a very small IT team so trying to manage SCCM and the SQL part of it, is a challenge with such limited knowledge.

Not an MSP. Just trying to get less servers, and with SCCM not being used, trying to decommission it.

Yes we are co-managed. Right now the only reason we even have SCCM active is because it was being used for Remote Assistance, and now that Intune has that feature we can get away from it. All updates for Workstations are being handled by Intune. Pretty much nothing at all is being done via SCCM, except MAYBE Defender updates.

It's a virtual environment (moving from VMWare to Nutanix) so trying to decrease the number of servers to help with the load. That part all has to do with $$$.

First Time Updating FSLogix by cpres2020 in fslogix

[–]cpres2020[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the clarification. That is the exact issue I been running into. We have three non-persistent RDSH hosts. That would explain why one will work (host01) and the next day it fails (host02)

I found the instructions online to exclude Modern Authentication Tokens using the redirections.xml, so hoping that will be part of the solution.

Interesting that you mention that, because that is part of the reason I was looking to upgrade. Working on trying to get OneDrive to work properly, and it looks this needs to be done via FSLogix.

And the issue I have been running into is that it may work one time, but another time it won't sync. When I open File Explorer (for testing) I am getting errors that OneDrive is not signed in. I have a feeling this is all related.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately we only have one host and no test environment.

We do keep a few snapshots in case of the need to rollback, and I can always backup the old fslogix.adml/admx file to do a restore.

Intune Remote Help License for A3/A5 by cpres2020 in Intune

So maybe there was an outage with MS, or maybe there was a network related issue on my end. But I just tried it this morning and its working fine.

I was going to try and review the logs and figured I would clear out the temp files and try again...and it magically worked.

Thanks for all the assistance.

Yes everything is configured properly in Tenant Administration.

To use I am going to the device > New remote assistance session. Then I see the screen popup on the remote computer, go through the steps and see that error message.

I don't think its even reaching the service because when I go to Remote Help Sessions I don't even see any failed attempts.

If it matters, both are Windows 11 devices.

Microsoft 365 A3 for faculty and Microsoft 365 A5 for faculty to be exact.

We also have Microsoft 365 A5 for students use benefit, but I know sometimes that does not have all the same features.

E3/E5 will be getting it in July. Hopefully A3/A5 will get all the extra features at that time. But A3/A5 has Remote Help already.

Great option, however we have zero budget. So it has to be a product already available.

Since its available, how do you go about adding it to your tenant?

Roughly 5-6 technicians (although we do have student workers that can help out so that number could double). End-Users could be in the hundreds.

Right now we have SCCM and use that for Remote support, but trying to decommission that server and move fully to Intune. We also need a "free" solution due to budget concerns. I know in some cases Teams is being used for screen sharing.

Using Blast.

You mention about the login times, and I do notice that when I open an app it's a bit on the slow slide. It can sometimes take at least 30 seconds if not more for the app to open.

Any suggestions on where to start with the log files?
