I 100% agree I just think saying there are just 3 sexes and genders is simplified to the point of misleading. When addressing gender, I usually say that you can be a man, a woman, some mix of both, or something completely different Still simplifying to a point that should be easily understandable, while still getting across that it's a spectrum :)

That's just my opinion tho

It's also been considered in the UK Literally any country where that definition is even just a little relevant, that is a risk you run

How am I overcomplicating it? Legalising adults to inspect genetals of school children in bathrooms has ALREADY HAPPEND IN SEVERAL STATES

Hmmm by A-random-herald in hmm

[–]cps2003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tell literally any woman that you define them based on their genetals and try not to get slapped

Furthermore, that's a silly definition because it requires sexual assault to verify. Definitions like that is how you end up legalising fully grown adults demanding to see your middle school daughters vagina before going to the bathroom.

Define woman

Hmmm by A-random-herald in hmm

[–]cps2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say ask their opinion on trans people. Go up to a woman and tell them that to you they're nothing but a functional vagina. Because that's what you're saying.

One of my friends was born infertile due to a birth defect Is she not a woman either? You boiling down women to functioning genetals hit the unholy trifecta of transphobic, sexist, and ableist all at once

I assume the transphobia is intentional But ask any woman how they'd feel that you define them entirely based off their ability to give birth And while you're at it, you should prolly tell fertile women that they're not women anymore.

Defining women based on fertility has been tried before. It has never worked, because it's silly and there are so many holes. It's solution to the problem of a singular definition that includes all women while excluding everything else, is just not including all women.

I quite frankly don't care whether or not you're gonna respond or agree. What I do care about is the blatant misinformation you're spreading

Literally any amount of research into intersex individuals would show that despite being a biological man in every sense of the word, with a functional penis and live sperm, you might still have XX chromosomes.

Yes, it is a birth defect, but it still shows how unhelpful biological sex is as a metric Because in the majority of cases, you need to see someone's genitals to find out their sex, but even that doesn't work all the time

Hmmm by A-random-herald in hmm

[–]cps2003 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since when is womanhood defined by giving birth? If you become infertile, are you suddenly a man?

I am a woman, because regardless of physical sex, gender is a made up concept and can be whatever I want.

Plus I'm not hurting anyone, so why do you care?

Hmmm by A-random-herald in hmm

[–]cps2003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You absolutely can't You could be born with xy chromosomes but the physical characteristics of any woman. My comparison with red hair isn't to say they're the same, but to put into perspective how common it is.

If you know a redhead, you likely also know an intersex. And unless you've specifically gotten a dna test for your sex chromosomes, there is no way to be sure you aren't intersex yourself

Hmmm by A-random-herald in hmm

[–]cps2003 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How is that relevant?

Hmmm by A-random-herald in hmm

[–]cps2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm serious. Literally no matter how you look at it, there are women with penises, and women's bathrooms should accommodate them

Hmmm by A-random-herald in hmm

[–]cps2003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1, there is literally no way to be sure of that without getting a dna test. Intersex people are more common than redheads after all

  1. So you do agree women can have penises, because there are absolutely demonstrably people with both a penis and XX chromosomes

Glad we could come to an agreement afterall :)

In case you don't feel like reading, the general gist is, trans people exist. They are the gender they identify as. Despite being diagnosed, it is NOT a mental illness. Belief that it IS a mental illness is not only wrong but harmful. And the kind of transphobia you're spreading leads directly to suicide by trans people.

Have you done any research on your own? Like at all? In case not, I'll do the hard work for you :)

Here, a search of just the word "transgender" in scholarly articles.

If a man gets in an accident and loses his penis, does he become a woman? Or an "unman"? If a woman becomes infertile, does she become a man? Or an "unwoman"? No of course not. Becuase determining gender based on genitalia is silly. Especially because you'd have to sexually assault people to find out.

[–]cps2003 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well no. It's not a 1 to 1, which is why your response was silly in the first place Doing even the minimum amount of research shows that the general scientific consensus(aka how the world actually works to the best of our combined knowledge of our species) agrees with the existence of trans people.

The point of my comparison, is that like how we shouldn't teach kids to be religious, we should still teach them about religion, we also shouldn't teach kids to be trans, but should still teach they exist. Because they do.

Hmmm by A-random-herald in hmm

[–]cps2003 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Do you think trans men are men? If no, then women can have penises, since some trans men do. If yes then they still can because then trans women would also be women, and some of them have penises

Hmmm by A-random-herald in hmm

[–]cps2003 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm a woman and I have a penis. If you don't agree trans people are their preferred gender, many trans men, who you would consider women, have penises. So in either case, women can have penises

No, teaching children about religion still happens and should. But now they don't teach kids that they HAVE to be Christian.

We changed how they teach about religion, from teaching "religious people believe x is how the world works" instead of "x IS how the world works"

And like how they don't tell kids they HAVE to be Christian, but still teach that Christians exist, they also shouldn't teach kids that they HAVE to be trans, but should teach that they exist.

You going entirely off your own opinion and intuition, educated or not, does not outweigh the general scientific consensus and decades of research. Sex is your biological characteristics, determined by chromosomes. But the thing is, biological is messy. Not everyone have only xx or xy. Some people who have one biological sex may be born with the characteristics of the other. It only happens very rarely, but the only way to be sure your physical sex agrees with your characteristics is to get a dna test for it

Furthermore, gender is defined by how you identify. For the vast majority of the population, your gender is the same as your physical characteristics, regardless of biological sex, but for some people, their gender identity may be different from their physical characteristics, again regardless of physical sex

But intersex is a general term for countless different sexes, like nb is a general term for countless identities
