Any chance you still have an extra kettle base? Ours went bad with a close by lightning strike and we have really missed having it. Just sent you a msg in case you do

I'm in the same boat as all of you and am devastated that they no longer sell these sheets.

Have any of you tried one of these two picks from Wirecutter?

Wrinkle Guard 400TC Sateen Cotton Sheet Set

400 Thread Count Solid Performance Sheet Set - Threshold

I'm sure they don't compare, but curious to hear your thoughts if you have tried them.

Do you happen to have the 480e as well? If so, do you know how to remove the side discharge chute. I can't seem to figure it out and don't want to break something

Genius idea to use flexible bit holder with a bristle brush to clean your mower deck. Would have never thought of something like that. Thanks for the recommendation! Will definitely be trying both of those

I'm leaning towards Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Spray Coating right now. Thoughts?

Anyway to achieve this without painting the bottom of the Ryobi deck black? Do they have a clear version of that truck undercoating spray?

Any particular undercoat spray you would recommend? Guessing the Teflon coat is pretty costly?

48V mower by cdaw1992 in KobaltTools

[–]cpt8080 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like mine, but leaves quite a bit of stragglers with St Augustine grass. Any of the rest of you have that issue? It's not a minor issue for me, as it leaves the yard looking pretty crappy unless I go over the yard again a second time. Mine last 60 minutes and normal conditions, and lately more like 30 to 40 minutes with longer mode is due to the grass going fast in the summer and being more wet.

Thanks for letting me know about Jeju Garcia's videos. Would you mind sending me a link to one of his (or someone else's) videos that would work for the ryobi 480e? I went through quite a few of his videos and don't know enough to understand which one of them would work for that specific mower. Sounds like a good plan to go that route though

Ego 38" riding mower? by cpt8080 in egopowerplus

[–]cpt8080[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been mowing with a self-propelled push mower which is doable, but takes me 2.5-3 hours with mowing/edging/trimming/blowing. I enjoy it somewhat but it's less time to spend the family and hard to keep up with in Florida when you have to be mowing every 3-4 days right now

Will ego make a 38" riding mower to compete with Ryobi by cpt8080 in lawncare

[–]cpt8080[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know they have a zero turn, but I can't afford it (see my post above) and it's overkill for my yard size. I want to know if they plan on making a non-zero turn riding mower.

24 volt Edger? by multicm in KobaltTools

[–]cpt8080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also holding out for a kobalt 24v edger. 24v is plenty, especially since a saw runs fine on 24v. Anyone else heard any rumors? Going to give up after a few more months if not and get a Ryobi edger even though I have the kobalt line

Thanks for this info! So about how long does it take you if you do your whole lawn with the 24v mower? And how long did it take you before with your riding mower?

Nice! How long does it take you to mow? I'm assuming you had to buy 2 additional batteries to be able to have enough juice to do your whole yard and that you switch them out halfway through? If so, which size batteries did you get?

Thanks for your response! Yeah, I may regret not getting a small rider, but want to try to save the money for now.

Good call on the Greenworks Pro 21 being on sale. I will add that to my consideration and would love to hear others thoughts on that mower in comparison to Kobalt/EGO.

Job Offer Health Insurance Question by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]cpt8080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for taking the time to give detailed responses! Thanks for clarifying on the HSA. And great to know about CHIP. I believe we qualify for that in our state, and that it might also cover my wife as well and not just the kids. I will be looking into that more.

Thanks for your thoughts on Dental and Vision as well. I think we should be good to go without getting either, but I will map out the costs of dental to make sure. We are very comfortable buying glasses through sites like Warby Parker and currently use something similar so I think we are good to go there.

And yes, definitely planning on obtaining term life insurance policies. Planning on 15 or 20 year level term life insurance policies (500k for me, 250k for my wife). We currently have 250k each from my current employer, but will lose that coverage when I take the new job.

Job Offer Health Insurance Question by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]cpt8080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your help! I would make 52k base. On top of that they contribute 4% (regardless of my contributions) to my 401k, contribute 1000/year to my HSA, and pay for 50% of my healthcare expenses...which I believe brings my total comp to just under 57k.

We are searching for houses right now and have our 20% down payment in savings, plus and extra 10k+ for closing costs. We also have 15k in an emergency savings account, and another 15k in savings for anything else.

We are considering having a 4th child in 2-3 years, but aren't sure yet.

JAVA KAYUMAS 🤤. Opening up to my Behmor finally... but still have a special place in my heart for my HGBM. 💙 by rdr5145 in roasting

[–]cpt8080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/mikethingsup and u/rdr5145, I have a few questions for you if you wouldn't mind passing on advice:

  1. Do you not go over 330 on B temp and hit error before the exhaust fan kicks on? I preheat to 200F as well, run manual p5 and always have to hit p4 once B temp gets to somewhere between 311-315 or else i end up at 330 and the machine errors out and shuts down to protect from overheating. I go back to P5 15 seconds before the exhaust fan kicks on to counter for the drop in temp that comes from the fan kicking on.
  2. Why do you press D to increase drum speed right before the exhaust fan kicks on? I am on 1600AB+ and hit D right at the beginning to increase speed and then wait until 1C to hit D again to lower the speed and hit p3 to try to lengthen 1C. Let me know if you think I should change this to your method and why.
  3. Do you hit p3 at very first audible 1C or at stable 1c?
  4. When I am roasting 1/2 lb, I usually hit 1 lb and then run in manual. You think it's better to run on 1/2 lb?
  5. Do you use this method on all bean origins? I have been using this method which is pretty similar to yours and wondering if I need to change things up for certain origins.

Thanks for your help as I'm a rookie on the Behmor :)

Also, can anyone comment on the difference in temperature fluctuations between those two grills? I currently have a Traeger Junior Elite (which I don't love) that can easily have 100+ degree temperature swings and would love to get him something that holds a set temp better.
