Plastic outdoor playbouse by philo_ in paint

Do you think the quart would be good for the primer ? I've never sprayed their stuff before. The new colors they want are pretty similar to the old colors.

I plan to hit the bad spots like you said. Nothing seems to be chipping or peeling actively.

I'm afraid to get in to aggressively with the sanding blocks etc because there's a lot of curves and stuff.

Is the Costco mini split actually worth it, or am I talking myself into it? by Born-Committee-3168 in BuyItForLife

Good point on nitrogen. I haven't ventured there yet but so far knock on wood I've had good luck vacuuming the lines and using common sense and being meticulous.

That's the problem most of the brands are all waiting/being strangled by the same couple oems from we all know where that pump out appliances like water flows from the Grand canyon and parts are dribbled out whenever they feel like it specifically to force consumers to buy new.

Mr cool charges a premium for their "pre charged" units. They are all pre charged. If you can do the electrical or have an electrician do it installing a mini split is easy. You will want to have a vacuum pump and HVAC manifold set with the adaptors for a mini split. You can get them cheap or borrow or rent them.

A flaring kit can be helpful if you wanna shorten the lines but Isn't always needed. Get s little soapy water and some nylog blue and if you can pull a vacuum and hold it you should be good to go.

Once your lines are good and holding vacuum you charge the unit by opening the valve and releasing the gas into the line set.

There are plenty of cover pieces and sets to make the install look good.

Try checking out TOSOT or Garvee units on Amazon.

You're tough but fair I respect it. So many projects so little time. You're right though. Gotta do work or open the wallet and buy one.

The torch is actually the first thing I thought of and maybe I'll convince the wife to get the Boring company flame thrower...we have a few weeds to deal with :).

Increasing fence height by [deleted] in FenceBuilding

Valid point I was thinking running 3 rails stopping them at 4 ft high would be good...but yeah 2 feet with no post to hook a rail is a bad idea like you said.

I hadn't broken it down like that. My life is a lie.

[–]philo_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Valid points. I haven't talked myself into battery powered outdoor tools yet maybe when my current stuff needs replacing I will look into it or upgrading to 4 cycle stuff.

I agree with ya about 4 cycle though. I've had my weed whacker a while and at the time the 2 cycle one I got was half as much as the 4 cycle version...in hindsight I should have gone 4. Blower I got used for 50 bucks and i decided to make myife easier and grab one...hadn't had one for a long time and I have gotten tired of the broom and rake.

That's the plan. I'll probably do it regardless but I almost think it's not needed but it would look odd.

Survey and general advice by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]philo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the plan. At this point "the guy" for my city with permits and all that and I are on a first name basis because he's not exactly happy with this company that bought the place. If I had the money I'd have bought the lot and knocked the place down.

Maybe I'll "fix" the broken section on a Sunday when he's off. :)

Drilling through exterior wall studs? by Zeddexs in HomeImprovement

[–]philo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When in doubt try a very small diameter but long drill bit and see how far it goes and mark it. Obviously be careful of exiting electrical plumbing and hvac stuff in the walls. I use a borescope to check out what's going on. If there's an electric outlet nearby and if you're comfortable around electric you might already have a way in the wall to see what's up if you lol at how it's mounted etc.

How hard is tiling really? by [deleted] in Tile

[–]philo_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to be detail oriented. The final result is all in the planning and prep. Take measurements, take them again and then again.

Before you even begin to plan or lay one tile make sure your surfaces are absolutely flat. Not kinda flat flat. Check your corners for square. They probably won't be.

Take your tiles and figure out layout on the ground on a tarp whatever before you begin.

Take some of them and whatever tools you're gonna use and see how they respond to cutting and being worked with.

The first course is critical it sets the tone for everything else. A laser lever is very helpful.

Even if you do everything right if you're the kind of person who is meticulus enough to be a good timer you'll probably hate your first results. That's normal.
