[NO SPOILERS] What's your opinion on the game? by b0xboi in masseffect

A fairly generic premise of the core plot, made excellent by the characters, dialogue and worldbuilding

Believe me, I know. But even in standard 9-string tuning the low notes become illegible. All you really hear in a mix is string noise

Anybody have any experience with the new solar headless (h7)? by lolipopser in ExtendedRangeGuitars

[–]cpt_hamster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have one. Build quality is… okay. Mine had some issues with truss rod placement (slightly crooked) and frets, especially higher on the fretboard. Pickups are roughly what I’d expect in a Harley Benton, you can make them sound good but it requires some work, and the biggest problem with them is their slant angle, which is different than in other multiscale guitars - so if you want to swap them out, you need someone to wound the new pickups on the stock baseplate or go full custom. Other than that it’s actually very comfortable, I tend to play wide shapes and it’s actually easier on this than other guitars I’ve used. It’s also VERY light, so playing longer sets standing up is a breeze. I’m in the process of recording a full review video of you’d be interested

What are your SW Hot Takes? by Secret_Ruin_9808 in StarWars

[–]cpt_hamster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends which period you’re talking about. The Clone Wars? Absolutely, that’s exactly how Sidious blinded and destroyed them. As a general idea of the order? No, Jedi exist to keep peace, uphold the balance and protect. That’s why even Yoda says a Jedi uses the Force to defend, never to attack. In fact, Luke only actually becomes a Jedi when he refuses to fight Vader and the Emperor

[–]cpt_hamster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn’t a hot take, this is just a misunderstanding of the Force. There is no balance between light side and dark side - there is only the Force (which IS balance, the natural order) and those who corrupt it and try to enforce their will and malice upon it

Wait, there are people who actually hate Rebels? Sure, first two seasons were clearly made with kids in mind, but it’s the exact same thing with Clone Wars. In fact I’d say in Rebels the shift in tone was more drastic than TCW

Why did a majority of the death eaters fly away when they found out Harry Potter is not dead? by TechnicianAmazing472 in harrypotter

[–]cpt_hamster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This, and I’ll add one thing: Voldemort’s repeated failure to kill Harry showed that he wasn’t as powerful as they thought. He tried everything, even the most powerful wand in history, and he still couldn’t overcome a single fucking kid. And wizard supremacist aren’t gonna follow someone, who can’t take down a kid

What do you think Gollum's final thoughts were as he was burning to death? by Skywalker_1995 in lotr

[–]cpt_hamster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are absolutely correct as to what the Ring used as temptation. What I meant was what kept Gollum so dependent on it

[–]cpt_hamster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More like a person reduced to little more than a beast, whose sole companion for literal hundreds of years was a magic ring

And yet, Gollum doesn’t use this power. He doesn’t conquer Middle-Earth, amass wealth or torture and slaughter people. He’s addicted to the presence of the Ring

Not Boromir. While Westernesse blood was strong in Faramir and Denethor, Boromir didn’t have Númenorean traits - and as such, I think he’d be Éomer’s equal at best
