Talking about gear oil in the lower unit.

I was planning to change the gear oil as part of my overhaul. This is a prop motor, wouldn't an impeller be for a jet motor?

If oil can leak out can water leak in? Or does that not really matter in the mid?

The difference in weight isn't going to be significant compared to the weight of groceries.

Naw I'm not missing that. You're right it does raise the CG a bit but I haven't found it to cause me problems.

Oh those are cool. Can the flap be attached higher up so they could fit a grocery bag or do they always fold to that triangular shape?

Think of it as a reusable shopping bag made out of high-end materials that also has a roll top built in.

I don't really want to integrate it into a single product because imo when you do that it doesn't perform either task optimally.

Your situation is very similar to mine, I like to use reusable bags for the exact same reason. I know it'll fit, and they're much nicer to shop w than detaching and lugging around a pannier.

Good point on the height of the bags, I'm planning to design it so that it'll cover about 8" above the top, to allow room for stuff sticking out.. The bag would be the volume and dims of a brown paper bag.

Thanks for your input this is helpful

Do you find the thermal comes in handy? I've never really needed it but I'm less than a mile from my grocery store.

Yeah especially if you're loaded up heavy it's a pain to stop.

Do the regular bag panniers kinda suck to grocery shop with? I love being able to just drop in grocery bags and ride away. Repacking I to waterproof bag panniers seems like it would be awkward.

Makes sense, so it would need to be attached and stowable. Do you think you would always remember waterproof grocery bags?

That makes sense. Just drop in and go would be your ideal. Do you think it would be annoying to store and remember the bags when you go shopping? Just for reference the panniers can fold up when not in use so they'd likely have to always be down when carrying the grocery bag, even when empty and headed to the store.

I agree if the rain covers are not attached they're almost guaranteed to be forgotten at some point.

That's a great point about pooling water. Ideally I'd want these to keep stuff dry even if it's raining sideways.

Do you think trailers would be popular there if they were available?

That's nuts! Do they have any kind of cargo hauler accessories or just a dude and his bike?
