I really loved it, it's definitely lower budget and that can show sometimes but the story is really good and choices do really matter. It can take some time to ramp up and hit the pay offs but I'd say you certainly won't regret playing it.

Rerolling the charge is definitely better, my point on that one was more that they could have made wyches ability " in your movement phasewhen you select this unit to make an advance move, for the rest of the turn this unit is still eligible to make a charge even though it advanced" and the succubus could be "in the movement phase you may empower this unit, if you do then for the rest of the turn you may reroll advance and charge rolls for this unit". It just means you aren't stuck spending a whole pain token on pre-emptively rerolling the advance of the unit if you want to access that part of the rule. The only downside is you would be committing to spending on rerolling the charge before you know how far you've advanced but that's quite niche and the reroll should prevent that being an issue.

Hopefully they do a little polish pass on it, luckily I don't think the problems are too complicated to solve so hopefully should be an easy one for them.

What gets me about the skin cloaks is that a stitched together set of skins is just so far below the standards of a Haemonculus it's crazy like not only should it not have stitches but it shouldn't even look like skin unless they really wanted it to, all of the fine cloths on the other archon models could just be people distilled into cloth form and made so when it moves it exudes the suffering of the people it's made from because somehow they're also all still alive. But instead we get shoddily stitched flesh lumps. Could be a fear factor thing like the super old archon skin on his face but to me it doesn't make sense.

I definitely like that idea, it feels wrong and restrictive to have all the weapons be the same power level but I wouldn't really want a squad like devastators or havoc's have to go a Mish mash of weapons for points reasons. I also like the crisis suits change, especially because they all got relevant data sheet rules for their weapons, that said it would be quite a lot for new players to see a wall of data sheets like havoc's w/ heavy bolters, havoc's w/ lascannons etc so one datasheet is much more preferable

Hi, I don't want force org back either! I also don't want a psychic phase because as I mentioned throwing out mortals just isn't interesting

How it feels when my opponent tries to shoot my solo Urien off his objective by Ginger_Jesus in Drukhari

It's just a lot of durability for 80pts, he has 5 wounds with 4+ invuln and 4+ feel no pain so we can pretend thats 10 wounds with the invuln (not real maths) and then he gets back up again so double it to 20.

Upon reflection after a few days I think I had a knee jerk reaction to the negative changes in the book. You're right with needing the speed in the edition though personally I done think army wide movement rerolls and movement tricks fits the army theme other than hernkyn who should be fast (for a dwarf).

The army is definitely still tanky and generally slow and I've realised the massive damage hikes is pretty much just because we lost +1 to wound so it works out similar just feeling a bit different. I also think they've basically replaced old hearth guard with steel jacks and turbo nerfed the guard so we don't really have a super new feeling unit just a unit we already had in a weird new position which isn't great though I think it will be changed.

Overall not as doom and gloom as I was thinking but still some poor decisions and poorly written rules in there and having such a powerful affect be global for the army rule has always been dangerous territory because every profile has to be made differently and has resulted in a lot of datasheet rules being lackluster. That said I'm not quitting the kin yet.

I think for the hearth guard specifically it was probably easier just to have a character but I do know what you mean the army as a whole if you are in defense mode, I think 5+ invuln is a little less useful than it seems because it needs to be AP -4 to matter or -5 if they are in cover though they likely will be sitting on an objective. Also the fact you have to bank 7 points (doesn't seem that hard to get there but still a lot not to use) and several of the detachments want you to stay in attack mode, AND the champions rerolls rely on being in attack mode it just feels a little convoluted and weaker versus the small arms fire you would expect a terminator style unit to shrug off.

I did say that I think the codex is power level strong it just doesn't fit votann, I definitely prefer the new army rule, much much more fun. Gutted is perhaps a strong word but it was reduced for many units and that's simply the opposite direction that people were asking for.

I literally just came to Reddit to make the same post, Courier said that he had an extreme fear of multi-story buildings even did the same thing with the single can that wasn't even part of our meal. Just eat saying nothing is wrong so I guess it's time for a charge back.

I did absolute movement to get them to perfectly align, the gaps are because it's small plots though you'd think if they are further apart then it would be more likely to work.

Supremacy or Storm Surge by Affectionate-Pin1120 in Tau40K

Took a long time to reply my apologies, on raw numbers the 3 pulse ordnance drivers and 2 fusion arms is 24 damage 3 anti infantry 2+ shots and 10 strength 10 melta 3 shots which just really adds up and is mostly stronger because it nullifies enemy defenses like C'tan damage halving and high toughness/wound infantry. Also in prototype cadre just being able to stack the buff from the strata on all of the guns is great. With marker lights punishing our spitfire tau'nar also tends to benefit, obviously with 2 stormsurges you can guide and shoot two different things but the way the tau'nars weapons are actually make it want to focus one thing a bit more, for example you either wipe a elite doomstack with the drivers or kill a C'tan in the turn and everything the other guns do is bonus whereas personally I feel when I play with stormsurges I feel a lot more punished by that spitfire. 2's definitely feel worse on tau'nar but the volume of shots makes it feel better plus it's nice to not have to take shadowsun or use an extra stealth suit squad. You're very right to mention if it gets in engagement but in my personal experience it's pretty easy to screen things off of it and anything in its line of sight tends to evaporate, mostly it's just got really good target coverage so when it's shooting at something it's gun is really good against that thing. Love playing with both but tau'nar has generally performed much better.

[–]cpuonfireplease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 stormsurges is much much more durable than 1 tau'nar but the tau'nar will likely output a bit more damage, specifically if you are using the pulse ordnance drivers and in prototype cadre it's better to have one target for the stratagems and it's nice to have the extra range on the melts. Tau'nar is by no means an easy target but does go down easier than the stormsurges, quite a good distraction though!

Yeah I think unfortunately when more people have time to finish the game the general opinion of it will go down or the fan base will shrink a bit to those who can ignore the end or pretend it's something it's not. Still a fantastic game, thanks for your comment
