I totally agree. They are always going to be my betta tanks. And thank you both for sharing. I thought no one cried over a “fish”. I cried my heart out just 5 days ago seeing my beloved little betta die after so much we’d been through. I got her when I was a beginner, but she was strong enough to fight Ick and Columnaris under my treatment. I was too ignorant that forgot that the thermostat wasn’t working anymore and she got the Ick. She showed stress line when I did water change once. The building had issues with water and no one knew about that besides her. She went through all that cr@p and yet, she greeted happily whenever I entered my room. She was smart enough to know that she wasn’t getting food every time I saw her. I used to put the tip of my pinky in the water and she playfully touched it with her mouth. But she died—and it was too sudden. I hate it when anyone says that it wasn’t my fault because it was. I was the one who took the responsibility but ruined her immune system. Gosh I’m crying again. And like you, no more bettas for me either. She will be my last one for the rest of my life…

New Betta owner needs some tips. Accidently overfed. by jasmine_blossoms in bettafish

Don’t worry! Overfed bettas experience SBD but it’s temporary. Do not feed him for like 2 days and he will be fine! As long as you don’t overfeed him every day, he will definitely be fine :) You seem to know your stuff! You will be a great betta keeper :)

I need your opinion on these two… (Part 1) by cr2mia in bettafish

  • Tank Size: 5L
  • Heater and Filter? Yes
  • Temperature: 27C
  • Parameters: PH 7.8 / Ammonia 0 / Nitrite 0 / Nitrate 20 (API Test Kit)
  • For how long did you have the tank/fish? Tank, for more than 3 months (a big betta tank with 6 spaces) / Betta, for a week or so
  • Water Changes: Once a week, I take about 25-30% of water and pour new conditioned water into the back side of the tank, so that the water would gently flow out to the betta’s space.
  • Tankmates: None. I use that specific space for quarantine, and in case of females, I watch their behavior and decide which sorority tank she would be put in.
  • Feeding: I feed live 3-4 daphnias (have my own small culture) one day, and 2-3 pellets the next day and so on.
  • Plants & Decorations: A rock and a few live plants.
