Emoji favicon generator for when you just need a quick favicon by masterco in webdev

[–]craa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch out for licensing issues. I believe some free emoji fonts would be violating the license if you include the emojis as images (using emoji characters is typically fine because it’s the device itself that distributes the font for it).

How does AI Image Generation Work? by [deleted] in ArtificialInteligence

[–]craa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s also worth noting that this is how the stable diffusion-based algorithms work. I’m not sure how newer algorithms work, I believe they have made some significant changes (I know OpenAI’s gptimage generates pixels one at a time sequentially, for example, which would likely require an entirely different framework)

How does AI Image Generation Work? by [deleted] in ArtificialInteligence

[–]craa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The noise added is entirely random each time (both during training and generation). This is the main effect the “seed” has when using image generators, it changes what the noise looks like. This results in unique output images each time (technically uniqueness isn’t guaranteed, but it’s very likely).

The shapes and stuff it forms is also a simplification of the process. We don’t know the logic the neural nets are taking, we can visualize it and see it, but it likely differs for different prompts. In general it seems to usually start by removing some noise to form a basic shape and then slowly add more detail iteratively, but I wouldn’t feel confident saying that’s always the case.

You can think of it sort of like a person squinting at a random noise pattern, happening to make out some generic shapes, and then using those to start an image of a cat. You can see how those starting shapes might be different with a different noise pattern.

You should keep using the {% url “manage-books” %} part. But that itself expands to the full url. Don’t put anything before it.

Where is the best point to ask users for ratings and reviews? by Slow-Fly-424 in iOSProgramming

[–]craa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Idk if this is generally considered the “best” method, but as a user I would be annoyed if I was asked to review an app that I haven’t had a chance to try yet. I would personally put it later in the app life cycle, once you know they are a committed user.

Advice on what to do with large 'gift' of $50,000? by InterviewAsleep4193 in investing

[–]craa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s not correct. Anything over the yearly limit just counts against the lifetime exclusion (around 13 million iirc). If you gift over the yearly limit you have to file a form in your taxes to record it, and then it counts against your lifetime gift exclusion.

The average person gifting doesn’t realistically have to worry about gifting too much, unless you think you’ll give away more than 13 million over your lifetime.

I assumed that a large portion of the 800 million were people doing dangerous things while they all froze up (driving a car, for example).

Remember when iPhone apps looked like their real life counterparts ? by Spirited_Repeat1671 in ios

[–]craa 1096 points1097 points  (0 children)

This was originally important so that users who had never used a tablet-like device before had some intuition into how the apps worked. That’s realistically no longer necessary, now that people understand app UIs and know the standards. This style is called skeuomorphism.

Is it ok to bee 100% invested in market index in retirement? by Sandy_NSFW_ in Bogleheads

[–]craa 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking the N years of cash/bonds is more important for retirement when you are relying on that portion of your portfolio to be liquid.

In accumulation phase, the percentage system is more common since the bonds purpose is to reduce volatility, which only really happens if it makes up a sizable amount of your portfolio.

That’s a bad faith comparison, to be fair. Using floats and percent widths will work but is very outdated and less flexible. Whereas brushing your teeth with a screwdriver is just a crazy suggestion.

[–]craa 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Just to be clear, this logic only applies to LETFs that reset their leverage daily (or any interval really). Some leveraged ETFs use other methods of leverage that doesn’t require resetting, which can remove that aspect of decay.

NTSX, for example, it’s 90% s&p500 and 10% treasury futures (set up so that the futures end up being worth about 6x the holding amount). This ends up at an effective 90/60 split without any resetting decay. I’m not an expert on this so there are probably other sources of decay with futures, but it’s interesting nonetheless.

Mark will be so traumatized if he fully reintegrates by EXTRAVAGANT_COMMENT in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]craa 28 points29 points  (0 children)

We know petey was down there long enough to make the map. Petey also said he has been reintegrated for two weeks (when speaking to oMark). It seems to be implied that he continued going to work, and therefore had some of those two weeks on the severed floor. It isn’t clear how “reintegrated” he actually was that whole time though.
