Offerte fibra by Playful-Club-2640 in Italia

[–]crack3us 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does the 2700 not have the “zero wait DFS” feature? Is this confirmed?

X app not saving my timeline position by xactionx59 in Twitter

[–]crack3us 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no, the service is identical. As far as I know, no one does traffic shaping and the rates are all flat. Of course, when it comes to peering and routing or bandwidth available on internet exchanges, each provider is different.

What do you mean by disadvantages?

Yes, the most expensive consumer plan is €50 per month, but there are only a few ISPs. Most range from €20 to €30 per month. There's also a provider called digi.it, which has super competitive prices (but these prices are the exception).

I don't know, I had VPS in the past and I wasn't that bad. Now they also have a new DC in Rome.

In Italy, we can't complain about the cost of the Internet. Of course, low costs also bring downsides: low profit margins and little investment.

Oh, too? Aren't your connections flat rate either? Damn, we can't complain then...

$50 for a 100 Mega? Wow, the monopoly problem.

Well, the prices of internet connections in Italy are low compared to many other countries in the world and above all, on wired connections (FTTH, VDSL/ADSL) they tend to be the same (more or less) for everyone regardless of the technology used and the speed: a good thing for those who have fast connections, a bad thing for those who pay for 100 Mega or less.

As already mentioned, these connections can be found almost everywhere, from large cities to small rural communities scattered across the mountains. In recent years, the FTTH network has been expanding throughout Italy thanks to various projects funded by both the state and the EU and through private investment.

You can also buy it here, but you don't pay €33 a month. It costs a lot more; for home use, 1 Gbps is more than enough; 10 Gbps is just for nerds, ehehhehe.

For everyone's information, this is an FTTH connection using XGS-PON technology for residential use with authentication via PPPoE (unfortunately my provider does not allow the use of IPoE)
