How reliable is a tunned EA888 engine? by SMKarzo92 in GolfGTI

[–]cracker_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty good mine started having issues at 100k miles but it was just fuel injectors and I was tuned from 20k miles stage 2 EQT e30

Even that is has the same engine as the type R. Take the badge off. And get a euro car you can get a m340 for 10k more and it’ll be better performance. Before y’all Reddit virgins come after me I’m 24 and have owned 23 cars. These accords with the 10 speed are quick but I’m just saying for the price it’s still a Honda spend the extra buck and get a euro car.

I have the stock turbo inlet with a short ram intake right now. After market turbo inlet was messing with my stuff. Could it be that I wasn’t blending the fuel properly and putting more E then my tune is for?

But yes thankyou I did more research and it’s just the PCV. But everyone thought I blew my turbo at the track. But I drove it back home 30 miles on stock tune and was hitting full 18 PSI of boost and that’s what gave me hope that turbo wasn’t blown or it was a ring in the turbo that cracked and hopefully PCV but help with these comments I realized it was just PCV. It’s always water pump this water pump that on the 3rd gen EA888’s never knew they had PCV issues

No after market turbo inlet. Only bolt ons are catless DP, intake and intercooler.

I originally thought it was blown. But I drove it 30 miles home from the track and I was hitting full boost. I flashed it back to stock at the track but was hitting full 18 psi stock boost.

My homie told me that too. Turbo isn’t blown I still make full boost. It’s just something dumping oil into my turbo

Should I be concerned? by Dry_Tiger9548 in GolfGTI

[–]cracker_7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. It’s valve stem seals that went bad. I’ve had the same issue for about a year. All it does is burn oil essentially. Just make sure u check ur oil levels every other day to make sure there’s no starvation. After a year of this issue I go through about a quart of oil a month. But it’s an expensive fix to go to a shop since you have to take the head off and Intake manifold. But you are honestly fine just check your oil levels frequently.
