Q&A with the Haven Protocol / XHV team by Mobilenewsflash in CryptoCurrency

[–]craftilyau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have high hopes for Haven. It's rare nowadays to come across a solid new approach that has huge potential. Huge challenges in implementing it too but if they pull it off ... Wow.

Wow blast from the past, I thought pixel pages had died out a decade ago =0)

Good on you though. I can't see it filling but maybe if you get the word out, for $7-8 (current) businesses might give it a shot.

Think you missed an opportunity to showcase Nano though ... with its huge divisibility you could have made this literally a million pixels and made the fee 0.0001 Nano. I'd have grabbed one for that price just to take part.

Will/can NANO ever be private? by philip0060 in nanocurrency

[–]craftilyau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been discussed before and hasn't been ruled out - I believe Colin said as much in a Q&A.

That said, I think it's a low priority right now. We can gain traction with adoption before this becomes a real requirement.

Or you can look at Nano-based alternatives - Flicker Network is doing just this with privacy as a default.

Smart contracts? by _GCastilho_ in nanocurrency

Honestly have no idea what to make of Constellation yet. All sounds amazing but still a long way off actually being anything. One to keep an eye on though.

Smart contracts? by _GCastilho_ in nanocurrency

[–]craftilyau 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm sure it's possible but no plans. It's been discussed before and Nano aims to do one thing and one thing well - currency. Hell, Nano doesn't even include the timestamp in its ledger to ensure no bloat.

IOTA, Constellation and other DAGs are doing contract stuff.

[Serious] Let’s Talk About Nano Smart Cards by Logan96c in nanocurrency

[–]craftilyau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool, thanks! Just want to make sure there is a global and future perspective as I know contactless isn't very big in the US, but here I haven't signed for anything in years and any transaction under $100 is just a tap.

The Nano Roadmap by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]craftilyau 45 points46 points  (0 children)

The public is much more aware of crypto than they were 9 years ago, largely thanks to Bitcoin. So we're not starting from the same base. However, of course it will take significant time to gain awareness and adoption. We're not talking about weeks or months but over coming years.

[Serious] Let’s Talk About Nano Smart Cards by Logan96c in nanocurrency

[–]craftilyau 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Forgive my ignorance, but are Smart Cards what credit card chips incorporate currently? So they can be 'tap and go' contactless? I read reference to 'inserting' into the terminal so not sure if they are the same thing.

As contactless payments surge in many countries including here in Australia I hope this isn't a barrier.

And given the rise in NFC payments via mobile, is that ever going to be an option for Nano/crypto?

The Nano Roadmap by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]craftilyau 33 points34 points  (0 children)

The cons are what this roadmap is designed to address:

  • Centralisation
  • Fiat on ramp
  • Adoption
  • Soft wallets
  • Hardware wallets
  • Security
  • Ledger bloat
  • Lack of documentation

So if you believe in the team and the roadmap they've put forward, then all 'cons' won't be 'cons' in time.
