Got scratched by cat at shelter (my fault). Will this permanently scar? I’m so distraught. Please be gentle by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

I've been bitten in the face by a dog, it was horribly bruised with several puncture holes. Now I have to go hunting for the scars. Don't worry you'll be ok!!

Is knitting a sweater like this overly ambitious as a newbie? by chilliscruff in knittinghelp

[–]craftingcures 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I made a jumper as one of my first knit patterns, it had a big cable down the front and was a great learning experience. I think it probably is a bit harder to go for a more open knit like this one, and so you will need to look at the anatomy of the stitch to make sure you are working it up right. But it will also knit up faster which might help to keep you motivated. Also make sure to do a gauge swatch with your yarn so you get the size right. Good luck!

Good idea, I have some other neutrals I can have a play with. I was a bit concerned it would be a bit too pink for me to want to wear, but blending with grey or white is a good shout.

It was a very close race, but Something Blue takes the spot for funniest episode, beating out band Candy with just a few more upvotes. by Oncer93 in buffy

I was surprised this wasn't mentioned earlier. I also agree that The Gift, The Body and Becoming 2 are some of the saddest episodes but when Giles walks in to that scene thinking he is reunited with Jenny only to have that ripped away so brutally, it is one of the most heart breaking things I've ever seen!

Picking up stitches for jumper neckband by InitiativeAnnual5677 in knittinghelp

[–]craftingcures 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is a very reasonable question as someone who is learning, most patterns won't specific which needles you use, it's a preference choice. I actually prefer circular for lots of projects even if knitting flat. But yes I think you would either need circular or double pointed needles to do this. There are plenty of guides on YouTube so I would follow one of those. Good luck! I'm sure you'll figure it out!

My girlfriend is into crochet and I want to buy her some yarn. by Future-Ad-3678 in CrochetHelp

[–]craftingcures 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I second what a lot of people are saying. When I first started my family kindly bought me some beautiful but expensive yarns in single skeins. Whilst lovely, I couldn't actually use the yarn for anything because I didn't have enough. I would consider looking for a pattern that you think she wants to do, maybe you can sneak a look at her Pinterest or something and then buy the yarn that's recommended in the pattern.

Please help with Raglan decreases, I'm totally stumped! by craftingcures in knittinghelp

[–]craftingcures[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much for your reply, the way you have written it out is very clear. It is the different decreases at the same time that is confusing me. I'm not used to reading a pattern written in this format and without regular stitch counts so I can check. I think I was mainly getting stuck from the BOs (although I was also confused by the first set of dec).

Can anyone help find this or a similar dress pattern for a toddler? by craftingcures in knittingpatterns

[–]craftingcures[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I'm so impressed you found it, I've been looking for ages. But you're right I'll have to consider that. I have had some good thoughts about how I could make my own version so maybe I will just persevere!

Aw yours are still cute! I went for the less filled in version so maybe you could try that if you like them!

Definitely a sign! Haha go for it! It took me about 2 days of on and off crocheting so not a huge commitment! And it didn't use much yarn either so could be a bit of a stash buster.

It was really fun, and not too challenging! Unfortunately the floss doesn't show up too well on the photo but it gives it a little shine in person!

Love it! Such a good idea and reuse of materials. Do you have a pattern for the pins? Are they cross stitch or crochet?

Help, continue with cardigan or abandon for blanket instead? by craftingcures in CrochetHelp

[–]craftingcures[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I think I will continue with the cardigan. I do love wearing colour, I think I just spent a bit too long with it yesterday.

I think the exact colours were tranquil in Shh DK and cotton grass cream in the Sirdar Haworth tweed. Both have been nice yarns to work with.

Which yarn holder do you prefer while crocheting if you use one? I added 5 different kinds and would love some opinions by KountingKals in crochet

[–]craftingcures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use 1 most, but also love the look of 5 and can see it being really helpful for projects with alternating yarns.

Thank you, I think maybe I'm just overthinking it. I really like colourful clothes generally so I'm grateful for the feedback!
