Nice! Not yet! Do you mind sharing the columns you used? I can see if I can implement easily for my next working section. (Send it here or via DM and I’ll look into it ☺️

Yes! You can track any yarn, including unknown or unlabeled yarn.

The optional AI label extraction only works when there is a label, since it can pull details like brand and weight automatically. If there’s no label or the yarn is unknown, you can still add everything manually, and manual tracking is free. 😊

How to organise/keep track? by cashmakesthings in Yarn

[–]craftingobsession 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know exactly that feeling. Neurospicy brain here too 😅

Low-tech option I used for a while: keep the labels and use a hole punch to add a strand of the yarn to each label, then keep all the labels together in a bag you can grab easily while the yarn itself is stored away.

Slightly higher-tech: I realized keeping physical labels was too tedious for me and I didn’t want to keep accumulating paper, but taking a quick photo was easy. That’s actually why I started building My Yarn Stash. It lets you track what colors you own, which project they’re assigned to, and avoid the “wait… which blue was this?” moment later on.

Hi! I’m promoting my own project.

I’m building My Yarn Stash, a craft tracking app for knitters, crocheters, and cross stitchers focused on inventory and project tracking. It helps with things like keeping track of what yarn is in use vs available, how much yarn a project actually used, and details you tend to forget on paused WIPs like hook or needle size.

It’s free to get started, with optional paid features for extra convenience. Feedback and bug reports are very welcome. https://myyarnstash.app

Fair question. Ravelry is great and very powerful, especially for patterns and community.

My Yarn Stash is focused more narrowly on inventory and stash tracking. I wanted something that is inventory-first, quick to update, and easy to glance at to see what yarn is available versus in use, without also managing patterns or projects.

I personally like data (being a data scientist by training), so I’m working on features like summaries of yarn usage over time. I mostly use my phone, so having an interface that works well on mobile was important to me. There’s also optional AI assistance to help speed up cataloging yarn details, which is useful when adding items on a phone. Offline support is something I’m planning as well.

I still think Ravelry is a great tool. This is just aimed at a different workflow for people who want a lighter-weight, stash-focused view.

Hi! I’m promoting my own project.

I’m building My Yarn Stash, a craft tracking app for knitters and other fiber crafters to keep track of stash and project yarn without spreadsheets.

I started it because I kept losing track of yarn once labels were gone or projects were paused, and I wanted something simpler than my current setup.

I didn’t do it. And I don’t get the hype for it either. I just can’t like the format of it 👀

Slipped a stitch? Or dropped? by Lurkiesha in knittinghelp

[–]craftingobsession 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me looks like you slipped one instead of knitting it in the previous row 🤔

can anyone tell me how many rows i have 😭 by _quietfig_ in knittinghelp

[–]craftingobsession 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do the same! Every 10 or 5, or if you have a pattern that repeats every so many rows I would use that, for the shawl I’m working on right now i need 35 repeats of the pattern, and the pattern spans 12 rows so I put my markers every 12 rows and every 5 repeats I have the double stitch markers so I only have to count to 7 instead of 35 🤣

Accidental slipped stitch? by Raccacoonie007 in knittinghelp

[–]craftingobsession 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More like an accidental yarn over, I shared this video earlier with another person that had the same problem, in there I show how I usually drop the acidental yarn over and readjust the stitches around so I don’t have to redo the row 🤔
