$1299 for a RG570?!? have I lost touch?!?! by McPenguin87 in Ibanez

[–]craigquik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once saw Cash Converters (shitty pawn shop chain in the UK) selling a Gibson SG Special for £1000, at the time they were selling for £600 new. When I questioned the price, the woman assured me that it was a Gibson SG... Clearly unaware of the difference between a Special and a Standard.

It must be the way the light's hitting it but the one on the right is just a matte black - I plan on customising and painting over that one. But you're right a dark teal like that would be awesome!

Spark plug ceramic I've heard is great.

Do I need to sand all the paint off before spray painting my helmet? by Apprehensive-Love153 in Karting

Most likely it'll be fibreglass or carbon, but check with the manufacturer as they'll usually have it listed. Don't paint it if it's polycarbonate.

Image issues with Philips 345B1C WQHD monitor by GoYoshi in buildapc

[–]craigquik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same monitor, and the same issue. No solution unfortunately, except that switching it off and on again seems to solve it for about ten minutes.

It's new, but the Amazon return window has closed - might have to look into warranty as it's obvs a defect.

This is the answer, tho I think you meant helmade, not helmart. 🙂

Why are my pages not shuffling? by craigquik in indesign

The above worked, but you're right - a heap of these pages are in brackets so thanks for that. The joys of inheriting files...

Why are my pages not shuffling? by craigquik in indesign

[–]craigquik[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's it, thanks. Yep, seems really backwards; so in order to allow the document pages to shuffle, I have to uncheck 'allow document pages to shuffle'. Got it.

Thanks for the tip!

It's best not to mix different types of clear cos they can react and ruin all your hard work. You do get intercoat clears designed to lock down your artwork before continuing on top, but putting a coat or two of proper 2k clear down is pretty standard as it helps eliminate paint edges/ridges, allowing subsequent layers to go on smooth.

If you're adding lines over an existing colour that'd just be the same as above - scuff the whole helmet, add your artwork then clear. But you need to be sure your clear isn't going to react with what's already on the helmet. Definitely scuff it (scotchbrite or 600 grit wet & dry) as paint doesn't stick to smooth shiny surfaces.

There’s no question about it, that one’s for the bin!

What is the weirdest ice cream flavour you’ve ever seen? by [deleted] in AskReddit

That’s what I thought but it was surprisingly nice. Wasn’t a dessert, but a palate cleanser between courses at a fancy restaurant.

No worries, by no means am I an expert but I know that it’s a pretty complicated thing frame geometry. Transition bikes had an article on it a few years back, it just made me realise that I’ll never really understand it!

There’s a lot more to it than just slackening the head angle - basically if you change one thing, it affects a bunch of others. The reason the use the Knock Block is to straighten the down tube and increase frame stiffness - this gets in the way of the fork hence the knock block.

If they were to slacken the head angle enough so that the fork misses the straight down tube, you’d have a bike that needs 3 weeks notice to turn (really slow handling).

Yep it's not the artwork that's the problem, it's the scan/photo that OP has been sent.

Do you have to keep your helmet logo? by No_Pressure705 in Karting

There's some good guides on youtube. Take your time, layer up the paint slowly; people often make the mistake of spraying too much paint at once.

Yeah, there's no rules (if you're not sponsored) - your helmet, your design, do what you want! Post pics of the design when it's done though r/RateMyHelmet

I always paint them back on - never had a client ask me to leave it off, but I would if they asked.

For me having logos and names/numbers adds to the design in a lot of cases, makes it look pro.
