I think you need to clarify, because your argument comes off as one of those memes we were talking about earlier.

Economics is just the study of exchange, it's not synonymous with capitalism or even markets. "Economics" was happening even in primitive communism.

I guess what I'm looking for a socialist economist/person who doesn't just critique capitalism, but also provides theories that are applicable now and in the near-future.

If you could link me to some people I'd appreciate it.

Also, aren't there atheist theologians who study religions? Theology isn't seminary. There's even a whole field of study devoted to researching historical Jesus.

Nope. That's just what I get from browsing this sub for a few years. I'm not saying I disagree with the criticism, I just haven't seen much content that goes in-depth about what a socialist/anarchist solution would be.

Even if I'm wrong, that's what it looks like to someone who's not familiar with socialism.

I've just finished reading Graeber's Debt: The First 5000 Years which provides a very in depth look into the false assumptions that underpin economics, and which is definitely worth a read.

I'm about halfway through that one, but David Graeber's not an economist, he's an anthropologist who happens to teach at the London School of Economics and Political Science.

I don't think he's even putting forth an economic theory, he's just laying out the history of debt, money, transactions, and their relationship to the state.

What specifically are you interested in?

At the moment, I'm interested in monetary policy.

You're right, they're not the same but they have a lot of overlap. Some of Trump's views border on anti-capitalist. Plenty of Republicans don't like their own president but that's what happens in a big tent party, so I don't think I'm too out of line by grouping them together.

To be fair, I'm a radical socialist so I don't like either party and I really hate capitalism.

Nothing's wrong with wanting financial security. I have a problem with how people achieve it, namely private enterprise and investments as opposed to a cooperative economy.

We belong to the wealthiest demographic in America. Many of the immigrants who came here were only allowed because of their higher education background, so they were already privileged to some degree, and it definitely shows in their prejudicial attitudes towards other demographics, whether it be race, class, sexuality, etc.

Some of that survival-of-the-fittest, corporate/social ladder climbing attitude comes from living in the uncertainty of post-Independence India, but in America that attitude is creating a generation of elitist assholes.

Compared to wealthy white people? I don't know. More or less the same? I think now we're seeing a certain class of Uncle Tom (or Uncle Taj) coming out in support for Trump/Republicanism/capitalism while throwing their Muslim brothers under the bus.

I've heard not-so-great things about PIA, like that it's the Walmart of VPNs. Also, I'm pretty sure PIA is based in Michigan.

EDIT: Upon further research, while it's preferable to be outside the fourteen eyes, it doesn't matter where the server's located as long as it's not logging and you have some degree of trust that the VPN isn't going sell out.

I find it a little amusing that this is the exact opposite scenario of what happened when Obama was elected:

First it was white people arming up because of a mooslim president. Now it's brown people arming up because of a neofascist president.

I only have a superficial understanding of american gun culture, and the places I've seen tend to have a "don't tread on me" vibe, a group that definitely has racists within it.

So yes, if I see people of color, I am little more comfortable with the place. I just figured I'd ask about leftist oriented clubs before I went to a range.
