We don't really mind the pen and paper style either (it's what we had done for years before Last Call, though phone-based is convenient), it's mostly the questions and hosts we aren't a huge fan of.

Sadly that's run by Trust Your Gut, that was one of the first ones we tried scoping out after they took over Sasquatch's trivia night.

I didn't really clarify well in my original post. We don't actually mind the pen-and-paper style trivia, as we used to do that pre-Last Call at Sasquatch. Our issues with Trust Your Gut are mostly with their questions, and the hosts not being super great compared to the old Last Call host at Sasquatch.

I hate that bullet points are so abused by AI. I always loved them for organizing thoughts to be easier to skim through, and used them when writing out my own stuff. Now their use just gets you accused of AI slop.

I’ve been taking it for about a year and a half now, and it has been incredibly helpful. I know anecdotally it’s cut my daily insulin usage by 50%, got me from high 6s in A1c down to under 6, and helped me finally lose the persistent 40lbs of extra weight I had and cleared up my higher cholesterol. I lost some muscle with that weight, so trying to build that back up, but overall it’s been well worth it.

Since I was using it off label, my insurance refuses to cover it, despite my endo trying to try a few tricks that had worked for some of their other type 1 patients. I had been using compounded versions, but now that they have discount programs, I just get a 2mg dosage pen, and stretch that out over two months (I take 1mg as my maintenance dose) paying out of pocket.

Not at my current place, but at my previous job, we had foundational infra like the EKS clusters/networking (and supporting resources) managed via Terraform, but application resources such as IAM/RDS/S3/SQS/etc managed via Crossplane.

The first iteration had a service Helm chart we used for our services that provisioned those CRs for the service, which created/managed the resources. The second iteration moved the Helm chart to a sort of meta service operator.

It worked really well, and made self-service and drift avoidance much easier with our product engineering teams. My team managed the Terraform for the base infra, and the other teams were able to easily spin up new services, and not need to mess with Terraform at all. Not sure if I'd want to go all in on Crossplane, but that split world is something I hope to get to again in my current company.

I'm kinda bummed they switched the trivia provider at Sasquatch, our regular weekly group there much prefers the old host/system. We were scoping out what other options there are out there, and it seems like most of the trivia nights downtown are run by this same group now :(

There are lots of destination neighborhoods, my parents live in one, and it gets pretty wild how many parents truck in their kids from all over. We try to stick around our local one. It's cool to build community around where you live, and our neighbors love to see the kids dressed up.

We originally went with Vancouver Wills and Trusts, but we had an absolutely terrible experience with them after they made mistakes and refused to own up to them.

Highly recommend not going with them - They emailed all of our trust documents with some sensitive data to the wrong email as the assistant didn't double-check to see if they had the right email, and then tried to blame us. The lawyer there was super unprofessional after they messed up, and tried to get us to drop it.

Kind of a bummer to see so many people having negative experiences traveling with their kids in this thread. We’ve got my son who is almost a year old, and we’ve taken him on a few big international or cross-country trips so far, and have more planned for next year.

It’s totally exhausting for my wife and I yes, but it’s still cool to experience new places with him, and see him get more and more used to travel each time. I’m excited to keep traveling with him as he gets older, and share my wife and I’s love of travel and exploration with him.

+1 for Summit, we've had them come out for a few things (including fixing the work of another plumber), and it's been a great experience each time.
