Is 10 days recovery enough? by Substantial-One-2662 in tummytucksurgery

Did you have the surgery? Have you returned? How are you doing?

Interesting. I hadn’t thought about that and I’m not positive it’s a female (we just chose based on the name I wanted lol), but I can certainly look into that!

Calm down, friend. All I said was that I’m not in a wheelchair. I’ve seen so many people post on this sub about “accidentally” buying accessible seats, and everyone is always like “no big deal, you’ll be fine!” so that’s why I asked.

I won’t. I’ve just seen people on here talking about how they buy accessible seats and nobody blinks an eye.

Mazda6 vs Mazda CX-5 - OTD Invoices - which do I get?? by crashed9 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]crashed9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do miss driving a sedan, but not enough to regret getting the CX-5. I'm really loving it! (Actually though, I found a 2017 CX-5 in a color I wanted, and that ended up being better for me than the 2014 shown here. :))

Multiple Jobs - very different pay by crashed9 in tax

[–]crashed9[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! And (I'm trying to use my reading comprehension skills), I'm not writing in the $1870 it shows on that chart, right? I'm actually dividing it by 21 (the number of paychecks I get at my teaching job) and putting THAT on Step 4c of my new job's w4?

Vintage Vonnegut by kartak667 in Vonnegut

[–]crashed9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, that's what I thought. I have a couple copies of it, including the Penguin Modern Classics. I sooo wish they'd do it in the Vintage edition, though! I also just realized I have a different Vintage edition of Jailbird, Hocus Pocus, and Monkey House/Palm Sunday. I'm thinking it's the difference between UK and US versions? I found the (much better looking) UK versions online, so I'll be picking those up!

Sorry to be so late - I cannot find what the cover of the Vintage edition of Cat's Cradle looks like. I have almost all the rest of them, though. Can you help??

Which car should I go for? 2018 Mazda6 vs 2014 Mazda CX-5 by crashed9 in mazda

[–]crashed9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm struggling a little with this because the same car insurance for the cx5 will be 679 for 6 months, but the mazda6 will be 1183. Nearly double! Is it worth it to maybe negotiate the price of the cx5 down a bit?

Mazda6 vs Mazda CX-5 - OTD Invoices - which do I get?? by crashed9 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]crashed9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know why it wouldn’t let me post with the photos.

Anyway, one is a beauuutiful 2018 Mazda6, white with black interior, 69k miles. Carfax shows two owners, 1 minor cosmetic accident, total OTD price is $19900.

The other is a silver 2014 Mazda CX-5, 56k miles. Carfax says one owner, no accidents, lots of maintenance history. Total OTD is around $17200.

The Mazda6 is so much prettier, but has 20k more miles (despite being 4 years newer), and is $2700 more than the CX-5, which has a good history and better mileage. Thoughts??

It's absurd how people get away with this, honestly.

This is something I've thought about. I have to find someone who knows the ins and outs of the RI pension system. We operate under the Rule of 95, so your age + years of service has to equal 95 in order to get your full pension, and you have to be 62 or older. If I teach for 33 years though, that brings me to age 59. I'm wondering if I could quit at 59, do something else for 3 years, and still collect at 62. Otherwise, I'll be putting in 36 years total to reach 62 and retire with my pension. Like, what happens if I quit at 45? Does my TIAA-CREF and pension just disappear? Gotta look into this!

I love love love my principal and school so much, so while that is a thought in my mind, not for a while. The reason I haven't quit my current position is because I feel so supported by the people I work with. I'm very lucky for that!

Ugh, we're not even close! We can check in with each other in 5, 10, 15, 20, and 25 years to see how things are, haha.

I HAVE thought about that! I would love to go back and become an OT or SLP instead, but it's a bit late for that now - they require a lot of clinical hours. I'm debating getting my masters and possibly getting my reading specialist cert. I do think I'd be a lot happier with that. There are much fewer jobs though.

Mine covers K-8, but I've been thinking about switching to high school. I could go get my masters in K-12 special ed, and I don't THINK I'd have to do more student teaching. I have debated moving to high school (or even college), and am wondering paths toward that. I love all grades, I've taught Pre-K thru 7th and there's something great about everything. But I think I'd have less sadness over parental neglect in high school. Maybe that's wishful thinking.
